Because I Said So!

Have you ever heard the words, “Because I said so?”  I have heard those words ring in my ears many times when I was a young girl.  I would hear them usually when I wanted to do something that my parents didn’t approve of.  However, after hearing them say those four words, I then would ask, “But Dad, Mom, what does that mean?”  Usually, the answer I would get back is “You don’t need or have to know what it means.  The only thing you need to know is that we said it!”  I would often walk away, knowing that the issue was settled whether I felt it was in my favor or not.  Why?  Because my parents’ words had authority and power!  When they spoke, we listened because we knew that there were consequences if we didn’t.

Have you ever had things happen in your life that was simply out of your control and beyond your grasp to understand them? Have you ever gone to God and simply asked, “Why, Father?” When you go to God do you expect to hear Him give you the same answer?  Can’t you just hear Him say, “Because, I said so and that is all you need to know!”

I never really realized how powerful the lesson was that my parents were teaching me until I became a Christian.  Once I got into the Bible, The Living Word, and began reading the Word of God, I then realized the Authority and Power of His Word.  For by the Word of God all things were created that was created and remains in existence only because God said so!  I was blown away because suddenly I understood the authority and power that those words I heard as a little girl carried!  Those words, “Because, I said so,” I heard spoken as a little girl, held in them the authority and power that settled deep inside me to form a peaceful resolve.  Again, I didn’t always understand the reasoning behind those words nor was I always happy with hearing them, but the issues were always settled in my heart.

Now because of the lesson my parents taught me, I can go to Abba Father, my Heavenly Daddy, with my wonderings and questions.  With Father’s Words, I have an assurance that He doesn’t mind me asking Him for an answer because His Words are Truth spoken in all authority. Do I always understand?  No, honestly, I don’t always understand His ways!  I do not always know the Who, What, When, Where, Why, or the How of God’s reasoning.   However, when He tells me, “Because I said so,” I can walk away in peace.  I know that the issue is settled just like it was when I was a little girl, which is really what I am in Abba Father’s eyes, right?
