New Things are Happening!

28 Aug

Have you ever had something to happen to you that you never wanted to happen but it turned out that it was the best thing that could have ever happened in that particular situation?  I know that was a mouth or a mind full, but as I think back on the things that were the most dramatic for me they turned out to be the most life changing.

Well, this year in particular has been one of those years!  It seems that one thing after the other was happening and none of them seemed good, as a matter of fact most of them were very

traumatic for my family.  We took  some  very serious blows, but  one thing I can say, is that we are still standing, thanks to the grace and mercy of our GOD.  When life is changing at a pace faster than you feel you can keep up, all I can say is that you better know what you believe and in whom you believe.  When your faith is tested over and over again and  when one event right after another is occurring and you feel like you’re in the middle of a battle that really has nothing to do with, what do you do?

When answering that question for myself, my thoughts run back to a message that I heard several years ago about a young boy whose Dad loved to ride Harley Davidson motorcycles.  The little boy kept begging his Dad, to please let him ride on the back with him.  The Dad would not let him ride until he really felt like he was old enough to listen to his directions which were very plain and simple but were also very serious.  His Dad finally told his son one day  that he could ride, but only under the following conditions.  “Son,  yes today you can ride, but only if you will get on, hold on tight, and shut up!”  At first that seemed pretty rude to me, especially the “shut up part” what did talking have anything to do with being safe on a motorcycle I questioned.  But I then found out that if you do not keep your mouth closed while riding on a motorcycle that you  have a mouth full of flying insects…GROSS!

Well what does this story have anything to do with the events of my year, you may ask?  I guess I felt like this little boy this year!  Once you decide to ride with the Father, he gives you certain directions, the ride is thrilling and fast and sometimes very furious, so you “must get on, hold on tight as if you’re life depended on it because it does , and yes and even SHUT Up!”  There are times to speak and yes times to be quiet!  The Lord says to be still, or quiet and know that He is GOD!  With every change that has taken place in our lives this year, though difficult, we have learned that GOD will turn things around for our good.  We have gotten on for the ride and we’ve gone around some bends in the road that we were not expecting to have to go down, but my Father is driving and all I have to do is hold on tight  and yes even shut up, especially if I am not speaking words of faith but agreeing with  the enemy of my soul  who is trying to get me in fear.

Ecclesiastes Chapter 3:1 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven!  I guess the reason for my blog tonight is just to encourage those of you who have been going through some very difficult changes!   I would encourage you to know that it is but a season..   That this difficult thing has come to pass, it will not stay! Just hold on tight, and yes be quiet and know that He is GOD! Life is about change, nothing will ever remain the same.  The Lord will not allow us to remain in our comfort zones where we will not grow or learn that he can be trusted, so just know that nothing will touch your life that is not filtered through him first.  If he lets it come to you, then he will use it for you!

Precious Moments

I grew up a little farm girl in Kentucky.  I was very innocent and niave about much of what was in the world, and still am I suppose about a lot of things.  When I was a child, of course, my parents sheltered me from “the bad things in life” but now that I am older and have a family of my own,  I guess sometimes I still choose to be niave.  However, there are times when  you can’t protect yourself from bad things that happen.  The Bible says it rains on the just and the unjust.  People tend to get mad at GOD when bad things happen, especially if they really do not know him,  but are happy as larks with him as long as they feel that  God is blessing them everyday.  The scripture says in John 10:10-11 That the thief cometh not but for to steal, kill, and destroy, but that I come to give you life and life more abundantly.  Every good and perfect gift comes from GOD.  So ask yourself if what is happening to you is good?  If it is not, then look to God to either protect you from it or protect you through it.  He has walked my family through some crazy events this year!

I will not spill all of everything that has gone wrong this year, but let me say for the Glory of God, that the Lord has turned most of it around for our good as his word promises he would!  I had not blogged much recently because my husband had been ill.  He went into the hospital and spent time in ICU and finally in a regular room where he stayed for 10 days.  Needless to say when things such as sickness hits a member of your family, you suddenly get a new prospective on what is important and what isn’t. I thank GOD that my husband is doing much better!  I know  many people  go about their lives acting as though they will live forever, but the Bible says our lives on earth are but a vapor.  This blog is in no way intended to spread doom and gloom, but honestly is meant to share just the opposite.   I just wanted to remind us all that everyday is a precious gift, even when it comes with things that we did not expect.   I choose to live life by faith, knowing that for me, God is my source of all that I may need or desire.  I am a firm believer that nothing touches my life or my family’s lives that has not been filtered through the Lord first! I don’t always understand why bad things happen nor can I offer reasoning for them, but this I do know….. Life is Precious, cherish the moments and make them count as they zoom by way to quickly!

“Tell the Enemy to Scat!”

Check out my new book Tell the Enemy to Scat.  This is a true story of how my husband and I were married for 20 years until we finally had our first child.  After receiving a promise from the Lord that we would have children, we assumed we would have them right away, but that was not to be and after much struggle and heartaches our promise of having children finally arrived, but again it was 20 years later!

My true story of finally having children after my husband and I were married for twenty years!
