Love them so very much!

I believe the number one reason that many Christians do not see God’s word being fulfilled in their lives is discouragement. If the enemy can get you discouraged and cause you to stay there, you will think that God has denied you your promise and give up. Sometimes we have to look for encouragement. Sometimes encouragement comes in ways that you’ve never imagined the Lord would send it. God will send encouragement to you and show you little rays of hope along faith’s journey to help you if you truly believe him. I must also say that sometimes, God expects us like David to encourage ourselves as well, but either way, God wants us to receive his promises and not draw back in our faith.

I remember one morning very distinctively as I had awakened early. I always loved to sit at my kitchen table and look out of the windows or sit on my front porch and pray and worship the Lord. This particular morning I was sitting on my front porch and I was really feeling very discouraged. I remember simply reminding the Lord what I was believing him for and how long I had stood in faith, as if he were not already aware of it. I specifically asked him that morning for two babies, after all he had promised me children and I desired them so very much. After I had prayed that prayer I then began worshipping the Lord and thanking Him for the answer as I went inside the house for a moment to refill my coffee cup. As I was pouring my coffee into my cup, I glanced out of my front bay windows in my kitchen and noticed something very strange. A huge clump of brown leaves has fallen down out of a large hickory tree into the driveway. I thought to myself that it was really early for the leaves to be that brown as it was very early into fall. I proceeded to pour my coffee and I was still looking at the leaves when all of a sudden a cat appeared and was at the clump of leaves. She was wiggling her tail and hopping from side to side and suddenly, it dawned on me. All of the leaves must have been a nest of some kind, so I ran outside to scat the cat away. I looked inside the leaves to see two tiny baby squirrels. They were only about an inch and half long and were the cutest little things. I picked them up and took them to the vet to make for sure that they were not hurt from falling such a high distance. The vet was a sweet little old man and he said something I will always remember.
“Well, It looks like you have you two little babies!” he said as he smiled at me.

Then suddenly, I remembered my prayer to Father God that very morning about wanting him to give me two babies. He knows how to encourage us and to let us know that he hears our prayers. He also knows that when we stand in faith for a long period of time that we can become very discouraged, but do not give up, his answer to you is on the way or perhaps at least a little encouragement to let you know that he hears your hearts cry and has not forgotten you.

That was many years ago. My husband and I were married twenty years before I had two children, the two babies that I’ve asked the Lord for. As I’ve waited upon the Lord it wasn’t always easy and sometimes I became very impatient, but He is so faithful and his word is always true. I hope like I did that you find the Lord has a sense of humor and that just when you are at a point of giving up on your promise, that he will send you encouragement. He may not send you two baby squirrels, but rest assured if you will honestly look, he will send you something to cause you to hold on tighter until the his promise manifest in your life!

Navigating Summer!

7 Jun

I am a home school Mom of two boys. We’ve just finished Home School for the year last week Yahoo!  Normally I’ve already got  a game plan as to what our (my 2 boys and my summer) looks like.  However, this year has sort of threw me for a loop, because our summer fun usually involves a lot of pool time.  My youngest broke his leg back in April, finally got rid of the huge cast this past Monday June 4th, but….still has to wear a boot for the next 5 weeks.   So, our pool time is limited at best, so on to something else!

My boys are all boys, they like sports, riding bikes, and running and romping outside.  They usually go on several fishing trips through the spring and summer with their Dad as we had an older RV that we liked to take to a nice RV park where there is a gorgeous lake for fishing and swimming, But…….Our plans for the rv’s use was wiped out also in April of this year as you can see!

Well, being a Mom who has been fortunate to be able to stay  home with  my boys all of  their lives, I’ve always taken them to the Mall with me.    Unlike most little boys, they love it, because they grew up going to the Mall every week.  We would go eat at our favorite place in the food court and then go play in the arcade where they would rack up on tickets to turn in on little army men, yoyos and whoopee cushions.  We’ve loved our time there and it was special Mommy and son time.  It was funny, one time  my oldest use to have one of the stick horses as he was all into cowboys and horses.  He was about 4 years old, and was dressed in his little  PJs and a cowboy hat, he  was riding his stick horse hard and fast  all over the house as the horse’s stick made a thudding sound on  the floor.   I asked him where he was going in such a quick hurry on his horse and , his reply “I’m going to the Mall!”  Priceless moment  that I will never forget.

Anyway with  all of that said every year our local Mall features summer fest and shows $1 movies on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, so we’ve been taking full advantage of them!  How many know  though that by the time you’ve bought popcorn and drink for $12.50, you can really rack some bucks. We have to be inventive, we only do the popcorn on Tuesday because we can get discounted. When we go, we stay pretty much all day, unfortunately with the times we are living in most of our most popular places we always went when they were very small  have closed their doors, but we still love going and hanging out there as it brings back a lot of wonderful memories for all of us.

So what to do for the rest of the our summer has turned into a dilemma.  I know that our local libraries always have story time and summer reading programs going, but after finishing up School, my boys are not to hip to get right back into reading if you know what I mean!  They are one another’s shadows, so what one does and the other will insist on doing!  So I am so open to suggestions, what would you do to entertain  2 boys for the summer on a budget?  My oldest just turned 12 years old  Tuesday, and my youngest one is 8.

Oh Yeah?

Don’t You Remember?

24 Feb

Well, here I am sitting in a place of such restoration that I am in Awe of what the Lord has done for us! I guess the thing that keeps coming back to me is the fact that the Lord has continued to be so faithful to us even in times when we were a little shaky. We didn’t know how he was going to do what we were asking of him, but just kept holding on to the fact that the Lord has been faithful to his word to us in the past!

Our Pastor preached a message this past Sunday that absolutely stirred my heart.  The message was basically this: “Miracles erase  options for the believer!”  What he preached on was the fact that once the Lord performs a miracle in your life, that it is something that is concreted into your spirit.  You are never the same, and hopefully as Pastor preached “You will remember!”  You will remember the miracle when the next trail comes or the next obstacle comes, because if the Lord did it once for you, he’ll do it again….Always!  That settles it…. There is no changing in God, he is the same yesterday, today and forever.  What he has done, he will do again…

My husband and I are living proof of the miracle-working power of the Lord, for as I began writing down today all the miracles that the Lord has performed for me, I became so overwhelmed, for it’s our nature sometimes to forget, but if you will take the time to REMEMBER, Oh what a faith builder it is.   It could be the very thing you need that will thrust you forward like a catapult and land you right into the miracle that your believing the Lord for right now!
