Slow and Steady Wins the Race!

Slow and Steady Wins the Race!

Have you ever just had a week of being busy but it seems like nothing is getting done?  Face it, life happens!  Sometimes our great plans of what we were going to do for the week, year, or even our life changes.  The key is to be willing to roll with the changes!  Yep, that has been my life recently, but yet when I look back I can see that I’ve accomplished much more than I thought I had.   I’ve actually made some huge strides toward some goals that I’ve been trying to meet this year!

It may sound wonderful to go through life without any bumps in the road, but I believe it would also be very boring!  I have found that when the bumps of life happen, that I can use them to my advantage. They can show me a true picture of what I am made of. Sometimes they detour me to another pathway that was good for me.    I admit there have been some huge bumps at times, so huge in fact; I really never thought that I would make it over them. However, God’s grace is always sufficient for me!

2 Corinthians 9:8  (KJV) And GOD is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:

This week’s blog is not to brag on how much I’ve gotten done, but rather I want to encourage you to see how much you are getting accomplished! Take time to realize that God is co-laboring with you by making all grace about toward you!  I want to encourage you… don’t give up on your goals or dreams, but press in even when it seems that nothing you do is accomplishing much.  It was the Tortoise that won the race, not the Hare.  Slow and steady wins the race! If you haven’t quit, then you are still in the race, the prize is up ahead!  Keep contending! Life is a marathon, not a sprint! Can you see that you too have made great strides even though you may feel as though you are taking baby steps toward your dreams!

I cheer you on my friend!  I would love to hear about your successes….

Changing the Landscape!

Storm Painting!

Inspiring One Dreamer at a time!

It is a rainy Georgia Monday.  I was thinking that soon the spring rains will begin so that all of the earth will be nourished.  I was also thinking about how that a lot of rain changes the landscape.  Have you ever noticed that when the rain comes down really heavy it causes streams of water to flow quickly over the landscape?   The quickly moving water sometimes washes the land away to change the appearance of what was there before the rains came!  This is truly why the Lord sends refreshing rains to us.  To change us and to wash away the former in order to bring in the new rain of his Presence!

Yes that may seem a little deep for some of you, but many times in the Bible the Lord refers to the water, Living Water, wellsprings, or the rains as his Presence. When he floods us with his Presence we are changed.  I know some people  will immediately tune me out or stop reading this altogether.  I understand, because if we are all honest, nobody relishes or likes change.  Usually we do not even seek change unless we become so miserable with our circumstances that it drives us to look for something different.  However, God is a God that is constantly moving and in order to “flow with Him” we need to let the rain of His presence sweep over us and change us so that we can move with Him.

But you may be asking why?   Why must I change, didn’t God call me just as I am.  My answer is yes He did call you right where you were, but He never intends for us to stay the same.  When you received the Lord, your spirit man was changed immediately this was the born again experience.  You became a brand new creature on the inside!  However your soul, which consist of your mind, will, emotions, and intellect did not get a new birth, and neither did your body!  In order to live in the purposes and perfect will of God we must according to Romans, present our bodies a living sacrifice unto him and be willing to change.

Romans 12:1 (KJV) I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

We are earthen vessels that were created to contain the Presence and the Life of God.  We receive the Living water flowing from God to sustain us.  However, His word speaks of a river of Living water, this is the overflow of rain that I am talking about.  This overflow in our lives is to minister to others.  The Lord wants our lives to touch other people who are desperate for His presence.  I want to be used in that way! When my life is over  on this side of Heaven, my prayer and my hope is that I did what the Lord purposed for me to do on the earth.

Yes I know that this blog for this week may seem “preachy” but in the world we live in today, the landscape of everything that I’ve known to be safe and secure is being challenged.  My place of safety which is the Lord has never changed.   He is the same yesterday, today, and forever.  He is a refuge for those who seek Him! .  I feel an urgency to encourage at many people as I can to seek the Lord while He may be found and get into His river! Nobody loves you or longs for your company more than He does!

Early Signs of Spring!

IMG_1274

With early signs of spring bursting forth out of the ground, I can’t help but think of newness!  This very morning while sitting on my front porch, it was Sixty degrees.  Even though it was raining this morning in Georgia, the change in the weather was beckoning me to go outside and enjoy, which I did thoroughly.   It amazes me how that when summer is ending  and autumn temperatures fall into the Sixties the air feels so cool, but after a long winter the Sixty degrees of early spring feels warm and inviting!

I filled my coffee cup, threw on my hoodie and parked myself in my rocking chair.  I simply sat quietly and thanked the Lord for the sound of the rain on the roof, but soon while sitting there, I listened and watched as several different kinds of birds rushed in to my newly filled bird feeder, took a seed and chirped as if they were saying “Thanks Lady!”  I also saw a Robin this morning which is always a wonderful sight to see. The gentle clinking of my wind chimes combined with the sound of the rain and the chirping birds made a beautiful harmonious glad song.

Something familiar began to bubble up inside of me that reminded me of when I was expecting my children. The expectation of something new and exciting was rising up!  It was an overwhelming feeling that made me know that a change is on its way!

Isaiah 43:18-20King James Version (KJV)18 Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.

19 Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert

Many people do not like change, but we are always going through seasons in our lives!  Some seasons bring more change than others, but regardless, God never wants us to become so comfortable that we stop expecting to see His goodness! We are to go from faith or faith and from glory to glory!  When we give up on expecting new things we become stagnant and critical of others. We revert back to an orphan spirit.  Although we may never verbally say it, when we see others blessed we think that God loves them more than He does us. God never withholds anything good from his children.  He’s made everything available.  If He led the Israelites to a land flowing with milk and honey, how much more does He have for us? But like the Israelites, we have to stop looking back and move forward in order to walk in God’s best!

Let me encourage you my friend when the Lord walks you through change, it is always good for you! Let the deadness of winter fall away.  Expect to feel the warmth of the Father’s love embrace you and gently usher you into the newness He has for you.  Get excited about the change and expect to see His goodness, I know that He will never disappoint!

Happy Mother’s Celebration Day!

Happy Mother’s Celebration Day! I wanted to dedicate this blog to loving mothers, aunts, sisters, grandmothers, great-grandmothers, stepmothers, spiritual mothers, and fur baby mothers everywhere. If I left anybody out, sure didn’t mean to!
It is my opinion that Women are born to be ministers. We began our ministry at a very young age. We begin our training as we watch our own mothers, grandmothers, or possibly an older sister or aunt nurture and care for others. We are born caregivers. Being a Mother or a wife is the ultimate ministry as we minister to our families on a daily basis, and usually whoever else needs us. Sometimes we may think that it is a very thankless job. However, if you have ever received a tight hug around the neck from your child, or a quick peck on the cheek from Hubby in appreciation for something that you’ve done for them, let me tell you the job has rewards that no amount of money could replace!
Proverbs 31 (KJV)
10 Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.
11 The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.
12 She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.
13 She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.
14 She is like the merchants’ ships; she bringeth her food from afar.
15 She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.
16 She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.
17 She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms.
18 She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night.
19 She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.
20 She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.
21 She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.
22 She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.
23 Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.
24 She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.
25 Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.
26 She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.
27 She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.
28 Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.
29 Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.
30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.
31 Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.
I take the Scripture of the Proverbs Woman very seriously and I aspire to be like this virtuous woman described in the above scripture, but don’t you wish that you could just abandon yourself to a whimsical notion once in a while without feeling that your life and the lives of your family would just simply fall apart? Being a responsible person might be necessary, but it is not always fun! I toy with the notion, especially on Mondays as I go about doing another load of laundry, or dishes, or cooking my children lunch….What would happen if I just didn’t do these things! What would happen if I didn’t mop that floor? Or, empty that dishwasher? God forbid my family might have to learn to do something without me, Duh? Horrifying to think of!
I have found that the fear of not doing something is far worse than what would really happen if I did it! It’s not like my kids would starve or anything for goodness sake if I truly decided to take a day just for me! I came up “old school” as my cabinets are always well stocked. They know how to fix themselves peanut butter and jelly sandwiches which are always in the cabinet and refrigerator. It’s also not like they would ever be naked if I did not do my laundry every Monday morning! My floor can get nasty at times, but hey, my kids have never gotten glued completely to the floor! Isn’t it simply amazing how we weave ourselves so tight into the lives of our family that we as Mothers think the world would just cease to function if we took a day!
I truly do not think it is pride or arrogance on our part, just dedication! As Moms, we do have a sense of great accomplishment when our homes run like clockwork and everything smells fresh and clean. We do take solace in the fact that our children are well taken care of and that they rely on Mom. Especially when they love Momma’s cooking better than restaurant food! Yep, maybe I do swell up a bit, which makes the day to day, week to week routine all worth it! But I go back to the toying of the idea of a Mom’s Day! Whoops, I guess I was not the first one to toy with the idea, for there is indeed a day dedicated to Mothers! “Mother’s Day” is coming up this Sunday!
Yay! That means that Moms if you are reading this, that you can indeed take a day and enjoy doing it! This makes it is perfectly okay for Mom’s to do nothing for an entire day. Yahoo!!!! Kick up your heels! Lounge around on the couch like the rest of your family does! I think that I personally might request to actually hold the remote to the T.V.! Yay! Mother’s day makes it possible for Mom’s to be pampered and to be celebrated as that wonderful created being that God has created you to be! Go party my fellow Sisters and do it with abandoned joy!

You're My Everything

 You’re My Everything

When I’m needy and I’m hungry

 I need your touch again

I just softly whisper your sweet name

You gently rush right in.

As I worship in your presence

My strength you make new

Everything that I have desire of

Lord it’s only found in you

I find peace in your river

Life flows from your streams

I mount up like an Eagle

And I ride upon your wings

Then I find You’re my everything.

You’re all Lord; You’re all that I need.
