He’s in the Waiting

He’s in Your Waiting!

hourglass-3197635_640

He’s in the Waiting! Another day has passed and do you find yourself anxious, wondering if God is going to come through for you this time?  We all have worried and have been concerned when things seemingly fall apart, especially when it is out of our ability to fix it!  Hold on because your answer is on its way. God is in the waiting! Yes, while we are waiting upon God, honestly He is waiting on us! He patiently waits for us to come to Him and realize that He is our answer.

Have you just had an issue and you lost night after night of sleep trying to solve it? Have you thrown money at a problem that seemed to suck you dry?  Have you told everyone your problem to see if they could come up with a solution?  Have you found yourself being critical of others when they are being blessed, while you strive to try to make your circumstances change?  Have you worried yourself into anxiety attacks to where you were physically ill?  Finally, when you couldn’t solve your problems and no one else could help you, did you find yourself angry at God and accusing Him of withholding from you?

How did I know to ask all of these questions?  Well, my friend, I’ve been there!  My answer was yes to every question, however, I have more questions to ask that are even more important!  Have you ever gone through all of the above and then suddenly you saw something or heard something about God’s word or His promises and like a lightbulb being flipped on, you could see the light?  Have you ever literally gone to Father God and asked Him to teach you how to trust Him.  Has He ever then reminded you of all the things you’ve already been through and helped you to realize that you’ve gone through much but you’re still standing and the reason you’re standing was that you trusted Him?  You may feel like you’re standing on weakened legs right now, but you’re still standing.   Or better yet, maybe you are kneeling, as you realized that all of the times you stood strong in the past, was when you were kneeling and waiting upon God.  Do you remember when all other times when you were waiting and He met you there?  Do you remember how sweet His presence was?  God hasn’t changed, so if you’re having to wait upon Him, be steadfast and unmovable for He is in your waiting.  He will come again to meet you and strengthen you as He has done in the past.  Suddenly you will see a solution, or He will just totally take care of that situation with one brush of your tear.  He is here, waiting, won’t you come? He is in the waiting!

Preserving Family Traditions!

Preserving Family Traditions!

Coosa River

My family and I have just recently gone on a little mini vacation that was so much fun. We took our travel trailer/camper and headed up to a little place in Georgia that we have absolutely fell in love with. This year alone we have stayed there three times. Why, you may ask? My answer is simple: I only have a limited number of years with my children to create long lasting values and wonderful family bonds. We spend time together, doing what we love to do. I am so thankful for so many wonderful childhood memories, that I want to create in them the same kind of wonderful times. I feel that I am passing onto them, what my parents gave to me. So with that said, the following memories that I am sharing is what I am trying to imprint in my own children…………

When you come from the country it is always great to get back to the country. When I was a child we always lived on a farm. Growing up in the country and farm living was hard work, but it is work that builds something on the inside of you. We worked hard but we also played hard as well. As a child we were rarely inside the house until it got dark. There was always something to do outside. Whether it was playing hide and go seek, tag, or something that was popular is our neighborhood was playing softball. Our neighbors and cousins would all come over for games of softball in our huge front yard. If we weren’t playing softball, we were fishing, either in our own pond, or in nearby creeks. When we did come inside, after we eat our supper and cleaned up, we played card games until bedtime. We watched some television but it was very limited as again we lived in the country. We never had cable, so we usually only received one channel, which I remember was terrific on Sunday nights as a Walt Disney movie would come on. Our whole family would gather in the living room and watch.

My Dad and Mom loved to fish. We had wonderful times in the creeks fishing and swimming, but also on the creek banks as we could always have cook-outs. It is amazing how wonderful food taste when you cook it outside. The real treat came when my Aunt Jessie and Uncle Donald came to visit us from Ohio in Kentucky as it meant that we would camp out. They too loved to fish, and so they planned summer vacations to come and spend with us. It was a wonderful vacation as the adults fished all day, we cooked out and set around the campfire talking and visiting. For the children, it meant tons of swimming, hanging with cousins, and eating good food. It is sad that these times we now live in, visiting with relatives seems to be a thing that only occurs at a family reunion or God forbid funerals, but when I was a child, our cousins were our best friends and we visited and hang together all of the time. It was a wonderful childhood. These were precious family times that I remember, and so my husband and I try to do the same or at least create the same kind of memories for our children. Unfortunately we do not live close to our children’s cousins for them to hang out with often, but they have cousins that come from Ohio at least once a year to do exactly what we did when I was a child. They bring a camper, we take ours and we head to our wonderful little place in North Georgia that I mentioned that my family and I just returned from. The guys go fishing and the girls go do what we really like to do, but then we meet back at the campers. We cook wonderful food and play card games until bedtime. Our children love these times and look forward to them every year.

The point is that childhood memories good or bad help develop who we are. My parents have both gone to Heaven now, but what they deposited on the inside of their children and grandchildren remains as a precious treasure. My husband and I are simply carrying on a wonderful family tradition that in my opinion would solve so many of our society’s issues. Get our kids off of computers games, out from in front of the t.v. and spend time creating wonderful childhood memories with them! They will forever be grateful, as these are lifetime gifts you are giving to them.

Keeping Traditions and Memories Alive!

20 Apr

Keeping Traditions and Memories Alive!
IMG_3027 (5)

I had worked all week doing laundry and bedding to pack into our camper. We loaded our little camper with all the necessities that we thought we would need for an entire week and off we went to one of our favorite camping places in North Georgia, where we met up with my nephew, his wife (my niece) , and two small children.
My husband and our boys are lovers of fishing, so I knew what the week would hold for them and my nephew. The guys fished practically every night, and on two separate occasions went on excursions to fish for trout and finally hit gold the last day. Rainbow trout was what was for supper the last night along with smoked sausage and sauerkraut for those of us who are not necessarily fish lovers! As the guys finally found their little pot of gold, so did my niece and I.
My niece and I on the other hand always go scouting for  different kind of gold nuggets. We love to visit unique little towns full of antiques and thrift stores. This year we found a wonderful little southern town that played out like a fairy tale. The people were very genuine and exceptionally friendly. They asked us if we had visited their natural springs, and suggested that we take water containers to the springs and get all the pure spring water we would like. No charge of course as it was a free resource that the little town was thrilled to have and was built upon! We ate at a little hole in the wall restaurant which immediately became a favorite. This little town so left an impression on us that we returned with our families with water containers in hand, and of course revisited the little shops and yes you guessed it, even the little hole in the wall restaurant that had real southern foods, for example: a bowl of pinto beans, cornbread and collards, plus a drink for a whopping $4.99. This was a town that I will frequent as my family only lives about an hour and a half away from it. Amazing how little nuggets of gold are right under your nose, but if you do not look for them, you probably will not find them.
After dinner, each night we would all gather around to play card games such as Canasta, Skipbo, Uno, and a fast favorite Monopoly Deal. As we took turns gathering in each of our campers, it gave us a great sense of satisfaction as we know that we are creating wonderful memories that will last a lifetime. We hope that we are instilling a love for simplicity and tradition into our children and possibly into their children’s children as this is what our parents instilled in us. The most wonderful memories were of my parents taking us on trips such as these and simply spending time with us. Oh how I wish they were here to see how their grandchildren and great grandchildren love the family traditions that they began with us way back when we were just children.
So what is my point of telling you all about my vacation or why that I thought you would possibly be interested? Simply to encourage you to create memories with your children, grandchildren, and possibly even great-grandchildren that will shape their future family vacations. Create times that will spark beautiful and happy memories in them as they too sit around a camp fire, or gather around a picnic table, or possibly like my family get in a late night of card playing and tell wonderful stories that keep my parents with us and their memories alive!

A Blast from the Past

old man winter

In my neck of the woods which is right outside of Atlanta, Georgia our winter season has been practically null and void.  We’ve had warm days practically all winter with just a few exceptions which amounted to a week or two.  So we are lulled into thinking the wonderful days of early Spring were only going to get warmer and more beautiful as the jonquils, crocus, wild cherry trees and Bradford pears were all bursting with vibrant color and blooms.  The azaleas were hanging with full bodied, fragrant blooms as well, when right in the mist of our early spring utopia celebration we have the arrival of an unwanted visitor, a Blast from the Past whose name is Old Man Winter! Isn’t this just how life goes?

Life is like a weather pattern!  Some days are warm and sunny with nothing but blue skies and happiness.  In those times you are more productive and you finally feel as if you are making steps forward in progress toward your Dream Future,  But……Yes a big old But comes creeping in. Suddenly you’re Old Man Winter arrives out of the dark shadows to lie to you and tell you that you can’t go any further.

Your Old Man Winter may have another name such as Old Rejections, Old Defeating Mindsets, Old Defeating Habits or Old Regrets but Regardless of the names of your dark days or demons, they are a blast from the past that tries to hinder or delay you right now and in the future!

When the blast from your past arrives how do you handle it?  Do you relive all of the mistakes in your past, all of the habits that have kept you going around the mountain like the Israelites in the wilderness?   Do you then beat yourself up and say, “Well, evidently I wasn’t meant to have anything better.   I wish I would have done things differently, but this is how I’ve always been and this is how I have always handled things.”

Aren’t you tired of going around and around in circles?  Do you want to seriously go forward?  Do you not recognize the demons of your past that only serve to hinder, delay, lie to you and ultimately blind you to  what God has really placed inside of you to produce which is a wonderful life and future?

Jeremiah 29:11 (King James Version) For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

One of the first steps to walk out of the past is to recognize that you have an expected end created by God himself just for you! That you are not alone and that God loves you! You do not live in the past!   You are priceless to Him! You are valuable and He thought you were so worth it that Jesus laid down His life for you so that you could have a new bright future! I hope that you will accept what He has done for you.  If you do, I promise you, your life and future will change. Once you accept Jesus into your heart, you will have the courage and the authority to finally put your past behind you!

You have the authority and the courage to finally deal with the enemies of the past.  God’s word will break off old mindsets, habits, defeating attitudes and lies that have hindered you.    Declare the scripture about your future because God’s word does not return void or idle to Him

Tell the enemies of your past, “I absolutely am not going around that mountain again! I declare, “Jeremiah 29:11 (King James Version) For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”  I fully intend to live out this expected end or my life, now go from me and never come back in Jesus’ name!”

Finally life is about seasons, but you must know what season you are in.  Realize that even in the winter seasons you are indeed making progress, but that it is much more difficult to see because all of the processes of a winter season are usually buried under ground or in our case in our (heart).  However, do you not know how hard the seeds of all you planted toward your future are working to burst forth for a brighter future for you?  It takes the winter season in our lives for the seeds to become strong and hearty.  You can’t see the process, but it’s happening, like our early signs of Spring!  We get to experience the warmth of early Spring days to keep us encouraged of what is coming!  So I encourage you, just because you do not see or maybe do not know all of the processes a seed takes to shoot forth and produce what is in it, doesn’t render that seed null and void.  All the good things you’ve sowed toward your future will arrive when you realize that you are worth it and that God Himself has it for you!
I hope this article serves as an early spring day and has warmed up your day and heart!  Great things are yours!  Be blessed!

Life Just Happens!

14 Feb

Life Just Happens!

Have you ever been living life where it’s a wonderful, joyful adventure that causes your heart to race in your chest, and your mind to reel with exciting anticipation?  I’ve had times such as these, where life seemed to be going in warp speed and great and marvelous things filled my life.  These are the times that make you realize that God is good and that He has you!  But what happens when Life just happens, you know, the messy, raw kind of life that instead of your heart racing in excitement, you are now groping your chest because of a reeling pain. When this happens, can you still say that God is good?

I’ve had both kinds of life: the fun, fast and fantastic kind of life and on the other hand the sad, slow, and serious kind.  I can honestly say that God is good all the time!  As a matter of fact, if it had not been for my faith in God through some of the most painful times in my life I seriously don’t think I could have made it.

You may be asking, what is your point?

My point of this blog is to share that regardless of sunshine or rain, God is for us. Every good and perfect gift comes from him.  He does not cause horrible things to happen, but again, unfortunately horrible things do happen, even to those that serve the Lord with their whole hearts.  Again Life is messy at times!  It is in those messy times that your faith is tested the most.  However, God is ever faithful.  He stands at your hearts door ever ready to comfort.

I hope that this is finding you on a day of Sunshine, but if not, maybe the Lord wanted me to write this just for you today!  He wants you to know that Sunshine is important, however, rain is needed also for things to grow!  May you find His comfort today and grow in His love and grace!

Part 20 If Oak Trees Could Talk

7 Oct

Part 20 If Oak Trees Could Talk

Hello from Georgia! Just as I welcome the Sunshine on this beautiful sunny fall day, let me extend a hearty welcome to ya’ll as well!   Don’t you just love the change of the seasons? There is something about the changing of the seasons that excites me to know that changes are occurring in our lives as well! Frankly that is why I began doing the Video Blogs of my latest Romance/Suspense novel If Oak Trees Could Talk because I wanted to get out of my comfort zone and experience something new! I am so grateful I’ve ventured out to do these Videos as I have loved the interaction and response I’ve gotten!

Please pull you up a comfy chair, pour you a sip of tea or coffee and join me today as we continue reading in Chapter 10 The Escapees and on into Chapter 11 The Return!

Chapter 10

The Escapees!

Nurse Wanda watched Mr. Hodges’ eyes narrow and his angered expressions come upon his face as he told her the story of Mr. Tyler. Because she knew Mr. Tyler so well, the story of why he escaped became clear. Mrs. Tyler knew if anyone told Mr. Tyler that she was getting out of Glenview before he was allowed to go home that he would not stand for it.

“Mrs. Tyler told us that this would happen!” Nurse Wanda stated

“What would happen, that two old mental cases would run off into the night and put all of our jobs at risk!” Mr. Hodges barked.

“Well Sir, I know you won’t understand this and probably won’t even try to understand it, but Mr. and Mrs. Tyler are unlike any couple that I’ve ever met. I seriously think that if you cut one of them that the other would bleed. They are that close and that much in love. This is where you went wrong Sir, because Mrs. Tyler asked all the nurses not to say anything to Mr. Tyler about her early release, because she knew that he would not be left behind at Glenview without his Helen. That’s the reason he came to Glenview to begin with because Mrs. Tyler left him when she had her stroke!”

“Well that is ridiculous and crazy! Is it any wonder that Mr. Tyler is mental? Yes this just leads me to think that Mr. Tyler is crazier than I thought. So medications will be justified! Thank you Nurse Wanda, you have enlightened me more than you can imagine!” Mr. Hodges said with those same narrow eyes and that evil smirk!

“Oh Lord, what have I done?” Nurse Wanda whispered as she realized that she just made things worse instead of better. She went quickly behind the nurse’s station and began looking for Ms. Amelia’s phone number. She knew that she probably would not be at her home but she felt so desperate to let Amelia know that Mr. Hodges was not going to help her parents. Instead he was going to keep Mr. Tyler medicated to where what memory he had gained would be lost forever! As she dialed the number, the telephone rang and rang, but no answer….

Chapter 11

The Return

“Hello my Little Darlings how are you?” Helen said rather calmly when she got into the car. She was always thrilled to see her grandchildren.

“We’re fine Gramma. Did Gramps escape from the Home?” Dylan asked, as he was the one most like Henry. He found humor in so much of life as Henry had.

“Yes Dear, I’m afraid he has, but no worries, I am sure he has made it home by now!” Gramma answered.

“Way to go Gramps!” Dylan cheered and so did his brother Robbie.

“Well at least he knows his way home, right?” Robbie asked rather concerned.

“Of course he does, children, don’t fret, I am sure he is just fine!” Gramma reassured. She seriously was at total peace as she somehow knew that this was the way things were going to work themselves out. Amelia on the other hand was typical Amelia, who was trying to keep herself from having a panic attack.

“Can’t you go any faster, Honey?” Amelia pleaded.

“It’s okay Amelia, your Father’s okay. I know him. He is just going back to find what he has lost.” Helen stated rather calmly.

“Mom, you sound so sure that he’s okay, what if….”

“Now, now Amelia, we do not want to alarm the boys now do we?” Helen interrupted as Amelia’s voice was becoming more excited.

“Okay, we should be home any second. I just pray that you’re right!” Amelia stated still not convinced of her Daddy’s safety.

As Robert turned onto Eastman Street, the boys shouted, “Do you see him? Do you see him?” They hollered again.

Robert pulled the car up into Henry’s and Helen’s driveway. The boys bolted out of the car first, they proceeded to run toward the house, but Amelia helped her mother out of the car who proceeded toward the Oak tree! When they drew close, the swing that hung from the Oak tree for years was gently swinging. It could not have been the wind because in the South, in the middle of July, a stiff wind is hard to come by. A gentle breeze was blowing, however, Amelia and Helen was sure that it would take more than a gentle breeze to move the swing this hard.

“Henry, Are you here?” Helen called. “Henry, do you hear me?” Helen called again.

Just as she was going to get upset, suddenly she and Amelia heard a loud thrashing sound up above them.

“Oh my Lord,” Amelia shouted!

“Hush Daughter, he has climbed that fool tree a million times! Just don’t panic. Just act as though you’re not the least bit afraid!” Helen stated rather calmly.

Henry chuckled like he was nine years old again as he was seated on a huge limb that he sat on when he was younger. Maybe he had not climbed up that tree and sat on that limb a million times, but it was truly so many times that he knew every little crevice and every protrusion to grab onto so as to get up there fast and be seated safely. He was a site to behold as he dangled his long naked legs over the side of that limb. He had his back toward Helen and Amelia and all they saw was Henry’s backside shining brighter than most moonlights! Obviously he was in quite a hurry to leave Glenview because he didn’t take time to find clothes or maybe he didn’t remember that he even had clothes.   Did he care that he was streaking like a teenager at a football game, heck no! Henry honestly could have cared less even when he was completely sane, but now all shame was completely gone.   Helen wasn’t at all surprised with what she saw. It reminded her of the old Henry.

Triumph Out of Tragedy!

Triumph Out of Tragedy!.

Triumph Out of Tragedy!

Triumph out of Tragedy!
When life seems like you have a handle on it and everything seems to finally be working out the way you thought it should, what then? Our breath catches in our throat for that second as we wish that it could always stay that way! However, a living thing will always change and grow because it is alive! Life is always developing and creating itself! Think about it, what kind of life would we have if everything constantly stayed the same? I know that we would love to just have life on an even keel perhaps, where nothing bad ever happened and we could just live like the Cleavers on classic T.V., but again Life is happening right now! If you are breathing and reading this, you are alive! I personally do not want to waste one minute of my life! I want to be used to produce as much on the earth as I was purposed to!
Jeremiah 29:11 (KJV) For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
I know in previous writings I have stated that we are all put on this earth for a reason! According to His word He has “an expected end” for all of us! We are destined by a true and living God, who created us to fulfill a purposed Life that He ordained us to walk in. From my experience in life, my greatest joy is when I purposely walk in His will and try to do what I know to do by obeying His word, (Bible). When I am in His will it is always a place where I feel more satisfied. Does that mean that my life has always been a “bed of roses” without any trouble or trials? Absolutely not, but when trouble comes, I have His strength and grace to get through them! I trust that when bad things come, that although they may be meant for my harm, I have a loving God, A Heavenly Father, who will always turn it for my good! Now I realize that this statement is hard for many! Especially if you’ve faced horrible tragedy in your life! You may be asking, where was God when this horrible thing was happening to me? How can I find good out of this tragic event in my life!
I don’t pretend to know all the answers for life’s woes and sorrows, but the only thing that I can offer to those of you who have been devastated by such tragic events or hurts, is that God is in the same place He was when He faced such tragedy. He was watching His only son be tormented, mocked, beaten, scoffed at, beard plucked, bones broken, until Jesus was finally crucified and put to death for me and for you. Why? The answer is because He knew all of the joys and the sorrows of LIFE! He experienced them so that He could heal our lives and fill them with what truly satisfies!
Hebrews 4:15 (KJV) For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
Jesus knows what it is to be forsaken and broken-hearted, because He experienced it all! He experienced every kind of the pain imaginable so that He could heal us of all of ours! I also offer this in light of tragic events, especially death! God did not kill or destroy the life of our love ones! There is a real enemy and his name is Satan on the earth. Unfortunately, His number one weapon is deception! He is the one who causes death and destruction in Life! He is a thief according to the Bible. His number one goal is to stop us from fulfilling our purpose in GOD.

John 10:10 (KJV) The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly
So you may be asking, how can you began to live again after such tragedy in your life? My answer to you is to call out to a Heavenly Father who loves you with an unconditional love. He has His arms wide opened waiting for you to come and be healed! He is a God of new beginnings! You may not realize it, but you’ve already got a purpose, a ministry if you will! Once you are healed, you can help others that have been devastated by a tragic event in their lives. What greater purpose on earth could you have then to be used by God to bring healing to hurting people? This is how the tragedy in your life can be turned into something good! I pray that you will let God, turn your tragedy into triumph!
