He opens doors no man can shut!

He opens doors no man can shut!

door

Have you found yourself in a position of needing to change, but you have become comfortable and honestly do not want to move.  I find that the reason of being comfortable is usually the number one reason most people do not change, however, it is really not being comfortable, it is more a spirit of fear.  As we face unfamiliarity, rather than decide to go forward and face fears, we choose rather to set back in what is familiar.   Most may not be happy where they are currently in life, but rather than face what is next, they dig their heels in like a stubborn Kentucky mule.

Oops, yes I said it!  You may have been able to keep your position based on your stubbornness, which is all fine and good if you are trying to please yourself, but let’s get honest.  Are we put on this planet to just please ourselves?  Have you found joy in pleasing yourself?

When I think of stubbornness I think about what the word of God says about it:

1 Samuel 15:22 (KJV)And Samuel said, Hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.

I Samuel 15:23 (KJV)  For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the Lord, he hath also rejected thee from being king.

In this scripture the Lord had promotion in mind for Saul, but stubbornness and rebellion prevented Saul from being King.  So I ask you, How is your stubbornness and rebellion preventing you from going forward?  May I suggest that if you repent, trust the Lord with your whole heart and life, fear will no longer have a place.  The Lord has only good things for you! He has an open door for you to walk through!

Revelation 3:8 (KJV) I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.

Life Just Happens!

Life Just Happens!

Have you ever been living life where it’s a wonderful, joyful adventure that causes your heart to race in your chest, and your mind to reel with exciting anticipation?  I’ve had times such as these, where life seemed to be going in warp speed and great and marvelous things filled my life.  These are the times that make you realize that God is good and that He has you!  But what happens when Life just happens, you know, the messy, raw kind of life that instead of your heart racing in excitement, you are now groping your chest because of a reeling pain. When this happens, can you still say that God is good?

I’ve had both kinds of life: the fun, fast and fantastic kind of life and on the other hand the sad, slow, and serious kind.  I can honestly say that God is good all the time!  As a matter of fact, if it had not been for my faith in God through some of the most painful times in my life I seriously don’t think I could have made it.

You may be asking, what is your point?

My point of this blog is to share that regardless of sunshine or rain, God is for us. Every good and perfect gift comes from him.  He does not cause horrible things to happen, but again, unfortunately horrible things do happen, even to those that serve the Lord with their whole hearts.  Again Life is messy at times!  It is in those messy times that your faith is tested the most.  However, God is ever faithful.  He stands at your hearts door ever ready to comfort.

I hope that this is finding you on a day of Sunshine, but if not, maybe the Lord wanted me to write this just for you today!  He wants you to know that Sunshine is important, however, rain is needed also for things to grow!  May you find His comfort today and grow in His love and grace!

Moving Forward or Staying Stuck?

Moving Forward or Staying Stuck?

stuck-in-the-mud

Are you moving forward or are you stuck?  For many I’ve talked with, their answer to me has been that they are stuck.  For whatever reason, life hit them out of nowhere it seems and they have become immobile.

I do not pretend to know the answer to everybody’s woes, but the only advice I try to help with is this:  If you keep doing the same thing over and over again, you are going to get the same results!

When someone is stuck, it requires a change of some kind to move.  For instance I live in Georgia where we have Georgia red clay.  This clay when wet is so slick that if you accidently get into it, unless someone comes and pushes or pulls you out, you can forget about getting unstuck!   If you try to get out yourself, you will spin and spin. The clay causes you to bury down deeper and even more stuck.  This is how many live their lives.  They just spin their tires hoping to get out of the place or situation that they are in, when in reality the spinning is just causing them to bury down deeper and become even more stuck.  You may be using a lot of energy but you’re not getting anywhere.

What is the solution you may ask?

My number one suggestion that I would offer to you is that you must change your mind!  Again you cannot think things are going to change if you don’t! I know for many this is why you are stuck.  You have a difficult time making decisions.  However, if you choose not to make a decision, really you have!  You’ve decided to stay stuck!

Even a baby knows that when it takes its first step that it has to turn loose of whatever it thinks was keeping it balanced.  May I suggest that in order for you to take a first step forward that you too will have to let go of whatever you think is propping you up.  When the baby takes its first steps it is wobbly and may even topple over a few times, but babies do not give up.  They just climb right back up and try again!  Again, may I suggest that if you’ve tried to move and fell down, that you get right back up, get your balance, and try again.  It may take you a few times, but I know that you can do it!

Happy New and Grateful Year!

Happy New and Grateful Year!

grateful

Well, we are into the third week of January already! How is your year going so far?  Do you already seem to be over the New Year’s Resolutions? I’ve read several articles stating that most people that make resolutions usually give up on them around the third week of January.  If you are one of them, please don’t beat yourself up!  Can I just give you a helpful suggestion?  Maybe you can do a New Year in a totally different and new way.  Wouldn’t it be wonderful to go into a New Year without guilt and shame or feeling like a failure because you didn’t reach any of your goals?

When the ball drops on New Year’s Eve, I do not make resolutions.  “Why?”  You may ask.  My answer is because I don’t want to go out of a year feeling bad about what I did not accomplish, but rather I want to celebrate the steps that I made even if they were small.   I want to look back over the year and see all of the positive things in my life rather than focusing on all of the things that were negative.

May I suggest that you make a list of all the wonderful and positive things that happened to you in the year 2016.  Call it your grateful or thankful list. I personally keep a journal, which helps me.  When you begin your list, if you do not feel like life was so wonderful to you, may I simply state the obvious?

  1. Are you still breathing? Well, that is one big positive thing you can write down that you can be grateful or thankful for.   Let everything else hinge on this first thing.
  2. If you are indeed breathing, that must mean that you are still needed on the planet.  Do you have family or friends?  Do you have a job?  Roof over your head, food to eat, clothes, drinking water, a place to sleep, a job etc.
  3. Maybe you could write down what talent or gift you have been given. This could help you set some new goals in 2017.  What will you do with those gifts and talents to help others since you’re still alive and breathing?

If you have truly had a year to where you can’t see the good, I promise you I am not trying to be insensitive or harsh, but rather, I am hoping to make you realize, that even the bad years come and go.  However, every year that you are alive, you get another chance to hopefully see a better year.  May I make a few more final suggestions?  Instead of taking it a year at a time, maybe you can take a day at a time.  Maybe you could also keep an ongoing journal or notebook of all the good things that happened throughout the year.  This will help you and go a long way to encourage you on those days when it seems nothing is going right.   If you keep a journal all year long, when you get to New Year’s Eve, unlike past years, all you will have to do is look at your journal to see all of the wonderful things that happened to you.  Do you want to know something?  If you can have one good year, then the next year could be even better!

I have found that even in my worse year, there is always reason to be grateful.  I also find when I focus on the positive blessings instead of the negative things that happened, I am constantly being blessed.  If my heart is still beating, that means I still have purpose and time to fulfill that purpose.  It is time to look forward and not back my dear friend!  Happy New and Grateful Life!

Simply Remember!

Simply Remember!

Have you ever gone through something that just seemed so horrific that it felt as though you weren’t going to make it this time!  Well, I have, more times than I can count!   Maybe you are still going through something like that.   Today, I hope to encourage you by pointing out the fact that you are still breathing in and out! It’s never too late for God to come riding in like the Savior that He is and save the day! I’ve made it through many trials by knowing God’s faithfulness. My husband and I are living proof of the miracle-working power of the Lord.  However, sometimes we forget what the Lord has done for us, especially when the thing we are facing seems impossible or way too difficult to walk through.  I want to encourage you, if we are making it, so can you.   You too can get to the other side! Sometimes, the easiest, but most effective thing we can do to begin seeing victory in our lives is to simply remember!

Our Pastor preached a message awhile back that really helped me and stirred my heart, as I was going through a devastating time in my life.  The message was basically this: “Miracles erase options for the believer!”  What he preached on was the fact that once the Lord performs a miracle in your life, that it is something that is concreted into your spirit.  You are never the same, and hopefully as Pastor preached “You will remember!”  You will remember the miracle when the next trail comes or the next obstacle comes, because if the Lord did it once for you, he’ll do it again….Always!  That settles it! There is no changing in God.   God is the same yesterday, today and forever.  What he has done, he will do again…

Recently, I thought that I would begin writing down all of the miracles that the Lord had performed for me.  Honestly, I became so overwhelmed. He had done so much that I had not even thanked him for or realized it was him!  It is our nature sometimes to forget, but as I began thinking back of all of the times when the Lord came through for us, I suddenly realized, if he did anything for me before, He is the same God!  He will do it for me again just as he had done it over and over again in the past!  So, I want to encourage you today, right now!    Take the time to REMEMBER what the Lord has already done for you.  You know all of those good things that happened before that we sometimes call coincidence!  Realize that those good things were not coincidences but God was working on your behalf.  Oh what a faith builder it is to take the time to simply remember!   It could be the very thing you need that will thrust you forward like a catapult and land you right into the miracle that you are believing the Lord for right now.

I Say Merry Christmas

3 Dec

I SAY MERRY CHRISTMAS!

I say Merry Christmas, because for me it is a Merry Christmas!  I celebrate Jesus which is why I celebrate Christmas.  Many may argue that Christmas is a pagan holiday and that if you are a Christian you should not be celebrating Christmas.  I say to them Christmas is a time set aside to simply remember the birth of Jesus!  I don’t care if it would be in December or July, it doesn’t matter, or if it was called by any other name, I would still celebrate it because I want to remember the greatest gift that my Heavenly Father could have given to me was wrapped up in swaddling clothes and laid in a manger!  However, since Jesus was the Christ, the Anointed one sent to us, Emmanuel (GOD with us) I think Merry Christmas is most appropriate!

Luke 2 King James Version (KJV)

2 And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be taxed.

2 (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.)

3 And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.

4 And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:)

5 To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.

6 And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.

7 And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

8 And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.

9 And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.

10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,

14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

15 And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.

16 And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger.

17 And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child.

18 And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds.

People are free to believe and feel the way they feel, however so am I! Celebrate it or not, I choose to celebrate!  I say let the Christmas lights shine bright to remind us that Jesus is the Brightest Light that came into this dark world!  I say bring in the biggest tree because Jesus died upon a cross made of a tree so that we could live!  I say place ornaments of gold and silver upon the tree to remind us that all the gold and silver in the world can’t compare to Jesus and his worth. I say wrap it up with tinsel and garland to remind us of the embraces of Love that only He can wrap us up in.  I say to place a shining star on top to remind us that wise men followed the star to find Jesus and that wise men today are still searching him out!  I say place gifts and presents under the tree to remind us of Jesus’ Presence being with us and that He was and still is the greatest gift that Mankind could have ever been given.  I say to place manger scenes with a stable in your home to remind you that your home needs a Stable foundation.  I say Celebrate and be Cheerful because He lives and for that reason we can face tomorrow!   I say sing Christmas carols about Him and to Him, Adore Him and praise Him in song!  Rejoice for the angels are still singing Holy is the Lord and resounding good tidings of Great Joy!   God has made peace available to all men on earth through his beloved son Jesus! No greater gift could mankind have ever been given than Jesus!

I want to shout it out, that Jesus Christ is born!  I realize that many reject Jesus as a gift, and have not received him.   Many reject Christmas and refuse to celebrate it, again I say that is fine for them, but as for me and my house we will serve the Lord with gladness.  We will take every opportunity to remember Him as the Great I am, the Prince of Peace, the Mighty One,  that was born humbly in a stable, the one who came as a baby and lay in a manger, but will return as the Roaring Lion of Judah, and as The King of Kings and Lord of All Lords….Every tongue will confess that He is Lord, I personally want to confess Him now with joy, not in a moment of regret!

Isaiah9: 6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.

Thanksgiving Next Week Already?

Thanksgiving next week already?

celebrating-thanksgiving

I remember as a little girl that my Mom would tell me to quit wishing my life away!  Christmas would just end and I would wish spring would hurry up and arrive. Then, of course, I wanted summer to arrive so that we could swim and fish.  When summer rolled around I would wish for Thanksgiving and Christmas again.  When I was young, I would always wish for something else instead of enjoying where I was. This was my Mom’s point she wanted to make to me.  Time was ebbing away quickly and that I needed to enjoy life now, stop wishing for future happiness, find it now.

When I was a young girl, I had no concept of how fast time would fly by, even though my mom’s wisdom kept trying to slow me down.   However, now that I have been married for thirty-six years, have two boys, both growing up entirely too fast on me, I now try to savor every day!  And yes, here we are preparing to celebrate the Thanksgiving Holiday again already!  It’s difficult to understand how fast this year has gone by.

You know life just happens at warp speed!  We are but vapors on this earth!  I now know because of what I’ve experienced in life that it is so important to enjoy the little everyday events because when you are older and reflect, those seemingly little events were the most significant, meaningful, events that make up our lives!

So, may I gently suggest, take my Mom’s advice.  Stop wishing your life away! Get about enjoying your journey now!  Stop and breathe in today and its seconds, minutes, and hours, because there is someone right now at the end of their journey on earth and the only thing they have left are their wishes!

So yes, Praise God Thanksgiving is here again!  I am thankful and so grateful that I have another year to spend with my family and friends and that I have a good life that I am living now!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
