Beginning 2016 garden

Spring is arriving beautifully in the South and I’m itching to get outside! As a kid I remember so well the days warming up after a long cold snowy winter! I am originally from a tiny town in Kentucky that set on the Ohio River in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. When spring came, we couldn’t wait to kick our shoes off and go barefoot! After pleading with our Mom, she would finally let us go outside with our bare feet! I remember the sensation of stepping into the lush green prickly cool grass and dirt! What a wonderful experience!

It amazes me that something that gave us so much pleasure as a child now has been found to have been good for us all along, regardless of the many arguments that “we would catch our death of cold!” We obviously never knew about the great benefits!   According to some emerging research from various health professionals going barefoot termed Earthing or Grounding is actually a healthy practice and could have many benefits such as the following:

Reducing inflammation by defusing excess positive electrons

Reducing chronic pain

Improving Sleep (I can vouch strongly for this!)

Increasing Energy (I noticed this also)

Lowering stress and promoting calmness by reducing stress hormones.

Normalizing biological rhythms including circadian rhythm

Improving blood pressure and blood flow

Relieving muscle tension and headache (I noticed this)

Lessens menstrual and female hormone symptoms

Speeds healing- used in some places to prevent bed sores

Can eliminate jet lag

Protecting the body from EMFs

Shortens recovery time from injury or athletic activity

Reducing or eliminating snoring

Helping support adrenal health

In the light of dirt and the earth being found to have relative health benefits,   I wanted to pass this wonderful cutting edge resource from Dr. Joshua Axe entitled Eat Dirt!  along to all who may be suffering in their health!   I have found many helpful resources written or produced by Dr. Axe and have taken his advice to help with health issues for my own family.

Dancing and Prancing Leaves!

Autumn Walk

Hello Friends, I know that this week I am changing it up a bit from my usual Video Blog If Oak Trees Could Talk.   The reason is simply because I  live in a virtual golden and russet forest this time of year and I love it! I’ve included a video of this rainy autumn morning in Georgia and I hope a little inspiration for you today!

It is a rainy Monday morning in Georgia as I am writing this! I simply love my times out on my front porch, in my wooded jungle of sorts, sipping my morning coffee and simply listening and watching as I spend time in His presence!

Autumn leaves are swirling around in the current of the wind until they slowly make their way to the ground! However, I’ve noticed one leaf this morning that seems to be rebellious, out into a current of its own, golden in color, swirling and dancing in the wind! It seemed that it too would hit the ground as it came swirling downward. Then suddenly it would catch another current and soar up into the air again! I couldn’t take my eyes off of that leaf until finally after what seemed like the longest while of it dancing and prancing through the air, it finally swirled down and around and around until it lay down so ever gently on the only bear place on the ground!

I thought how weird that leaf was but then I felt as though the Lord was speaking to me in what I had just witnessed. He has made us as unique as this beautiful swirling leaf. He has called us to come out from among the crowd and do something uniquely designed for us to do, that we alone have been created to do! What I thought was rebellion, was simply obedience, one seemingly out on its own dancing and catching the wind of His breath and Spirit as He directed the current! It was a precious moment for me this morning as I seem to struggle sometimes with the fact that I’m out here feeling very alone sometimes with my hopes and dreams. It’s not like I do not have supporters and those that cheer me or encourage me, but what the Lord puts in your heart of hearts sometimes seems allusive at times and the self-doubt as to whether you’re chasing a pipe dream kicks in!

Ah…… I breathe in a peaceful sigh as the Lord always sends the little assurances like only He can to encourage me! This morning was a great pick me up as I am soaring high under the power of His breath!

Thank you for spending this time with me! Be encouraged that you’re always under the watchful eye of the One who created you! Blessings to you my dear friends! As always I would love to hear from you! If you have recently began reading along or have found my video blogs and would want to hear more please Subscribe to my Youtube Video Blogs!

Part 17 If Oak Trees Could Talk

Part 17 If Oak Trees Could Talk

Welcome back to If Oak Trees Could Talk ! I hope that up to this point that you’ve been following along either by reading or listening each week. I say this because the past two weeks I have been sharing Chapter 9 entitled Pursuit of Love. This particular chapter depicts some pretty private details of an intimate relationship between a husband and a wife, but the whole point of this chapter is strictly written in context of the rest of the book. I am in no way ashamed of this chapter, however, I plead with those of you that may have just began reading along or listening to realize that If Oak Trees Could Talk is not just another steamy romance novel about sex in any way! If Oak Trees Could Talk is truly the story of a couple that has a full and satisfying life because of their choice to pursue and abandon themselves fully to unconditional love!

Disclaimer:

I feel that this book is truly an Inspirational love story, however, in some of the following content, I wanted to state that for young readers or listeners the content is not appropriate or may be rated PG.

“Baby, Baby,” Robert once again whispered, “as much as I am enjoying this, I would like to know what this is all about exactly?” He held Amelia’s face in his gentle hands and gingerly caressed her hair. His eyes met hers as her eyes were filled with tears. He once again questioned if he had upset her.

As Amelia, swallowed hard the lump in her throat, she cleared her throat and told Robert about what her mother had advised. She asked, “Robert have you really noticed how my parent’s truly love one another with everything that they have within them?”

Robert answered, “Yes, I can honestly say that I’ve never seen anyone that cared about each other like your parent’s do. Not even my own parents!”

“Do you know how my mother told me that they kept that kind of passion for each other throughout all of the years?” Amelia asked not really expecting an answer.

Robert still gazing into Amelia’s beautiful blue eyes, simply listened.

“She told me that the main thing they both have done was to always put each other first. Momma said, “it is truly that simple, but not always that easy!” Amelia continued. “I went into the Glenview Residential Home for the Elderly, mind you, and do you know what I found? I found this breathtakingly beautiful woman which is my little sweet mother simply glowing! Do you know what she told me when I asked her about why she looked like she was glowing?”

Robert nodded as he had no clue.

“At first she told me that I could not handle the real truth about why she was glowing. As I convinced her that I was an adult, she proceeded to tell me that she and my little Daddy had made love, not just love mind you, but, she said “passionate love” the entire night long! I had to admit that I was totally embarrassed and became so flushed that I never knew what to say to her! But she had plenty to say to me. She told me to go home and to love you passionately. I do love you with my whole heart, but have I ever loved you with that kind of passion before? I am determined that I want to Robert. I want us to be free to love like that without embarrassment. We once had a passion, but somehow through the years we have let something slip away. I want what we once had. I want to model that kind of love for our boys, so that when they find wives, they will know how to love them? Do you think I am crazy?”

Robert lay quietly as Amelia poured out her heart, her thoughts, and questions so openly to him. He watched her eyes dance as she spoke of her parents and noticed that she smiled so tenderly when she told him how much she loved him and wanted him to love her passionately as well.

Robert cleared his throat as well and took Amelia’s face again in his gentle hands.

“I want us to trust each other enough to love like that! I know that I have taken you for granted, but Amelia, my breath catches in my chest every time I see your beautiful face. I feel like a giddy teenager whose mouth feels like it is full of cotton when it comes to talking to you and really expressing my heart. I never want to hold anything back, but sometimes I am unsure of myself. I do not always know how to put in action the way I feel inside. Your Daddy is a hard man to live up to! I love you with everything that is in me. I would be as lost as your Daddy is right now if you ever left me. I need you to show me how to love you, because honestly Babe, I do not want to assume I know. I know that my heart is full and I could never imagine living without you. You are my passion, my desire. I am a better man because of you. You are what my dreams have always been! I am one blessed man! The day that I knocked you down at the airport was the day that I was absolutely knocked over myself. I just couldn’t believe how beautiful you were! I was and am still blown away when I look into your eyes.”

It was as if the flood gates had opened up and all of the emotions that both Amelia and Robert had already shared along with those that they still had in their hearts come gushing out! They hungrily lavished each other with gentle caresses and tender kisses as they moved together in unison to become one flesh. Robert and Amelia lay in awe struck silence while still tightly holding each other, both were breathless, never experiencing love on this level before, until finally Amelia broke the silence

“Yahoo! Thank you Momma! I loved your wonderful motherly advice!”

Robert chuckled and teasingly said, “Amelia, the next time you go to see your mom, please ask her if she has any more advice for her Daughter and favorite Son-and-law? Tell her we will try to follow it to the tee!”

As the couple continued embracing one another, they talked and laughed until several hours had passed. They needed to go and pick up the boys. Both knew in their hearts, however, that from this day forward, although it may not be easy, that they would make every effort to put the other one first and live their lives passionately pursuing love.

Part 16 If Oak Trees Could Talk

Welcome back to my video blog If Oak Trees Could Talk! Last week, I did a little Post Script of this week as Amelia takes her mother’s advice to pursue love with a passion! It is my hope that as you follow along to If Oak Trees Could Talk, that you would come to realize that this book is not just a book filled with romantic passions, but a book about life and how to live it with zest and gumption! My desire even in sharing the book through the video blogging each week is that it will inspire you to grab ahold of life with a passion and love unconditionally to the death!

Disclaimer:

We continue to read in Chapter 9!

Chapter 9

Pursuit of Love

“Well, if you are sure you want to know I will tell you, your Daddy and I made love all night long last night. We felt like the life that had been stolen from us was restored by our passion for each other last night. Nurse Wanda, actually had to wake us up this morning, we were sleeping so soundly!” Helen said with absolutely no shame or guilt. She let out a chuckle, that soon turned into laughter as she seen the look on Amelia’s face.

“Momma!” Amelia gasped as she was totally surprised at her Momma’s candidness.

“Well, my Dear Daughter, you said that you could handle it! That blush on your cheeks really says you lied! I am going to give you some free advice Amelia. Go home, love your husband passionately! Love him like you’ve never loved him before, love him like it could be your last time.   Surprise him with your willingness to be passionate for him. You will find the greatest response will be what you have found in your Daddy’s and my relationship. It’s called a passion for life! Go, get out of here! Go make wild passionate love to your husband!”

“Well, Mother….I’ve never….

“And that is the reason you doubt your love for your own husband, go and do it! Just go and have what you see you want out of life. If we’ve taught you nothing else in life, Daughter, it is to grab every moment as if it were your last! Live in passionate pursuit of love and embrace it, for love is the greatest treasure that you will ever find upon this earth. If you love with a passion, Daughter, no greater joy will you find with Robert, now what are you waiting for? Get on out of here like I told you to do! Go find love!”

“But Momma, I can’t just leave! I just got here!” Amelia stammered.

“I told you to go…., now get! Your Daddy and I are better than we’ve been in a long time, so get on out of here! Go do what I told you to do now! Are you going to disobey me?” Helen asked rather sternly.

Amelia shook her head no. She embraced her mother and smiled a smile that was a combination of both Henry’s and Helen’s. She felt nervous inside, but couldn’t wait to act on what her Mother had advised her. She longed for the life full of passion that she knew existed for her. Today her Momma gave her permission to go after it whole heartedly without shame. She ran down the hall to the elevator and quickly out the Glenview Home’s doors to her car. She sped through the lights and stop signs to get to her home as she prepared emotionally to be the most passionate version of herself. Her boys had baseball practices and then pizza, so Amelia knew that she and her husband would not be interrupted for several hours. Thoughts ran wildly through her mind as she considered how Robert might react to her behavior.

“Oh I feel so foolish and silly, why does this seem so difficult for me?” Amelia mumbled to herself. “My Lord, I’ve been married to the man for Eleven years, it’s not like we’ve never made love before?” She continued to give herself a pep talk.

Amelia’s face burned and became flush. She already felt embarrassed even before acting upon what her mother advised her to do. However, she knew that she longed to come out of her shell and be who she knew she was inside. She never wanted to live like other couples that she knew, just the status quo and settle for a life void of excitement and passion. No, Amelia determined in herself that from this point on, there would be no turning back.   She was going to have the kind of marriage and relationship with her husband as close to the love that her parent’s had modeled for her throughout her entire life.

When Amelia’s husband pulled in the driveway, Amelia heard the garage door open and shut as Robert pulled his car in. She heard his footsteps coming up the stairs and a tune of a song that he was singing ever so softly. He was a very handsome man and so sweet. Amelia was envied because Robert was the kind of man that would definitely make a woman swoon. What caught Amelia’s attention however was the little cleft dimple on his chin and an even bigger dimple that seemed to seal every smile. It reminded her of her Daddy’s mischievousness little grins and so she was attracted to him right away.

When the door to the stairs finally opened and Robert stepped in, his dimpled smile caught Amelia’s eye and she gently embraced him. She lingered in his embrace and asked him if she could have a serious conversation with him. She took his hand and led him to their bedroom and shut and locked the door.

“Did I do something wrong?” Robert asked.

“No, I have just left my parent’s and Robert I am taking my mother’s advice!” Amelia whispered as she began unbuttoning Robert’s shirt.

“Well, okay….” Robert whispered back, as he was surprised at Amelia’s behavior.

Amelia, found Robert’s lips and kissed him hard and passionately. He responded back to her, but with slower actions as he wasn’t for sure what Amelia’s mother had advised her. The kisses became more passionate as Amelia walked Robert backward to their bed and gently pushed him until he was lying down. She followed him as her body pressed tenderly onto his. Amelia thought to herself, we have a great love and passion for each other, we just do not express it freely. She became even more determined that she was not going to hold anything back from Robert, but was going to trust love and abandoned herself to it.

Guest 3-  Advise I Would Give My Younger Self?

I have asked a few of my author friends to be my guest over the next few weeks as they are exceptional friends and Inspirational writers! The authors I have chosen have published books or are in process of publishing their own books.

Please enjoy my Guest Authors as they candidly and openly share a glimpse into their lives. It is my hope that you will be inspired to visit their sites and check out their work!

The theme of the guest blogs:

What Would I Advise My Younger Self?

May I introduce you to one of my close friends and fellow blogger and Author:

 Joyce Beaver!

What would I tell my younger self now that I have reached the ripe old age of sixty seven?

I have been doing a lot of thinking about this question and recently I sat down and wrote my younger self this letter:

Child,

I would like for you to understand at an early age, what I have learned running the race to old age. Taking the time to stop and grow in wisdom is more important then going to a party, dancing the night away with your friends at the canteen, or even spending days whining over a boyfriend you wished you had. There is a life called the abundant life that is really what you need and desire over the trivial things of your teen years or even that horrific age between teen and middle age. You think you are going to live forever, and nothing could be as bad as not getting to go to the prom, or on a date with Mr. Right. How can you live another day without that special pair of shoes and pocketbook to match your new name brand dress? Your ratings at the school dance, having your nails and hair in perfect order, and smoking your first joint is not that life altering, life shattering event you make it out to be. All that anger at your parents, fighting with your brother and sisters and ‘having your own way’ isn’t the end of the world.

Child, there is an abundant life that will shake your world and give you more happiness than you can conger up on your own. There is a place in this abundant life where you will be on a high that is actually higher than any drug can take you, or any drink can fill you. There is a man who can love you deeper, fuller and better than any man on the face of the earth and he will never disappoint you, call you anything other than his princess, supply all your needs and take you to places you cannot even imagine. He will never disappoint you, will deliver you from destruction and death, fill you with a Spirit of joy, love, strength you cannot even imagine.

I would like to advise you, younger self, to take the time to read the instruction book, find this joy and safe haven before you graduate from high school and hold on tight as He takes you on the adventure of your life. When you reach that time in your life where you can retire, look back, I can tell you the truth, you won’t feel like you lived a life of failure, a life of lost dreams, a life of wishing it could have been different. Don’t wait, Child, seek first that higher kingdom in your youth, and your white hair in the future will mean a lot more to you as you lay down and finally retire from this world. If you miss the Truth, you will miss the way and the abundant life and your entire life will have been wasted.

Look with open eyed vision and wake up now, so when you sleep in the end of days, you will have lived abundantly in the arms of the One who loves you unconditionally. Your future… it actually begins today. Love from your older self.

P.S. His name is Jesus and He died for you so you can have all he came to give you. That is life eternal, pressed down and running over.

Part 13 If Oak Trees Could Talk

Part 13 If Oak Trees Could Talk

Welcome back to Part 13  If Oak Trees Could Talk! Once again it is my pleasure to bring my story to you each week! I am excited as I do these blogs each week as I am working on another Inspirational Romance Novel along with a sequel to a Juvenile fiction entitled Caleb’s Cereal.   I would love to complete at least one of them in time for Christmas! In the meantime let’s read or listen to Chapter 7 A Father’s Love!

Chapter 7

A Father’s Love

Once Henry was alone he looked at the journals that Amelia had left him. He then stared at the old Oak tree hanging before him and with pencil in hand began once again to fill pages with memories. This time the memories of his Dad came to life.

Henry’s father, Russell William Tyler was a very hard worker. His philosophy was if you’re going to do a job, do it right or don’t bother. He sometimes come off very rough and short tempered and so Henry felt like he wasn’t pleasing unto his father. However, there was an event between Henry and his Dad that changed Henry’s life forever.

Both Henry and his Dad were driving to Crawford County one afternoon to pick up some automobile parts for Henry’s Dad’s car, when a deer came barreling out of the woods and stood right in front of the car.   Henry’s Dad was driving and before he could steer the car in any direction, the deer lunged right into the windshield. Henry wasn’t hurt; however Mr. Tyler was knocked completely out and was bleeding profusely. Henry tried to wake his Dad with no response. He then realized that he had to get help, so he was able to scoot his father over enough for him to get into the driver’s seat. Henry drove his Daddy’s car for about two miles to the nearest house to summons help. Henry was only nine years old at the time and acted very mature and responsibly. Mr. Tyler suffered a concussion and had several stitches in his face but was fine because of Henry’s quick response. Henry remembered the gentle way that his Dad patted his hand as he was being loaded into an ambulance. He smiled at Henry in a way that Henry had never seen or never noticed before. Henry had the assurance that he needed from that afternoon that he was well pleasing unto his Dad.

While Henry penned the memories of his Dad, he found himself once again exhilarated. He stared intently at the picture of the old Oak tree hanging before him and a floodgate of memories came back to him.

“It’s out of here!” Henry yelled, as he recalled hitting a baseball completely over the fence when he was only seven. He was on the Tigers pee wee team where he had a baseball glove that seemed entirely too large and a cap to match.   He remembered the proud look upon his Dad’s face when he looked up in the stands.

“It wasn’t at all what I thought it was! My Dad was always pleased with me wasn’t he old friend?”

As Henry sat alone in his room it was as if he heard his old friend saying “Yes, Henry, your Dad was always pleased with you!”

As one event after the other played in Henry’s mind, the memories of Henry’s Dad smiling at him flooded Henry’s heart. It was as if Henry could feel those gentle pats of assurance from his Dad once again as in the evening of the deer accident. Henry gently smiled as he penned every emotion and tears stained the journal’s pages.

As his fingers stiffened to the demand that Henry placed upon them, he felt almost as desperate as he felt that night that his Dad hit the deer. He felt that the freedom he was trying to achieve challenged him to do things that were scary but necessary, as in the time he drove his Daddy’s car in the night to get help for his Dad. In Henry’s thoughts he was even more desperate to get help for himself and his dear Helen. As another page was completed and the tears seemed fewer, Henry tenderly closed the journal. He then found himself giggling as joy of discovering that his Father loved and was pleased with him seemed to free him even more. He could feel guilt and condemnation of the past loose it’s hold and roll away. Henry took a deep breath, while winking at his old friend. Placing the journal back inside the bedside table, once again, he closed his eyes in sweet sleep.
