Part 38 If Oak Trees Could Talk!

Hello Everyone, I am so glad that you chose to join me again on my Video Blogs of my Romance/Suspense Novel If Oak Trees Could Talk!  I love all the new people that have found me and made comments.  Thank you so much for “liking” the Video Blogs.  If you‘ve just recently found me, I wanted to say these blogs were really just me trying something different with my Romance/Suspense novel.  I personally just wanted it to be read, so I thought I would read it myself and video blog it.  I wanted to send out a big Thank you, again to all of you that have hung in here with me since the Part 1 of If Oak Trees Could Talk!  You are amazing and I am so grateful!

Today, we begin in…..Chapter 18 The Detectives!

The doors to Glenview opened to allow Amelia to walk outside.  The humidity in the air was thick and heavy and felt moist against her skin.  The heat seemed to hit her in the face when she stepped out of the air conditioning.   A warm brisk wind was blowing and Amelia could see that there were several storm clouds gathering in the westward sky. She ran quickly to her parent’s vehicle as rain began to fall.  When she climbed in the front seat she started the car and put it in gear.  Suddenly there was a tap on the passenger side window.  It was Mr. Henderson from the Mason Creek Times.  Amelia immediately bent over the front seat and opened the door.

“Hurry, get it!” She ordered.

“Hello, Ms. Amelia, how are you doing?”  Mr. Henderson asked as he obeyed Amelia. “I’m sorry that I am soaked.  I should have listened to my old knee this morning! Every time it is going to rain, my knee will act up.

Mr. Gerald Henderson and his wife Sophia were also lifelong friends to her parents.  Henry and Mr. Henderson had known each other since they were young boys.  They had gone through twelve years of school together.  Mr. Henderson’s wife was the Mason Creek Elementary School librarian.  Surprised that Mr. Henderson was at Glenview, Amelia was a little curious as to why he seemed to be waiting to speak to her.

“Hello Mr. Henderson, I am sorry but I was a little startled when you knocked on my window.  This has been a crazy day. May I help you with something?”  Amelia asked, but just as she asked the question she looked up to see Mr. Hodges staring at them through his office window.  She became very upset.  “Mr. Henderson, we can’t talk here.  I am sorry.  I do need to speak to you on an urgent matter, but not here and not now!”  Amelia said as she looked down as to pretend that she had not noticed Mr. Hodges.

“Amelia, I know about your concerns. It is quite alright.   May I possibly meet you at your home?  I do not want to meet at my office, for I have the same concerns that you do.”  Mr. Henderson stated.  “Your husband told me that you needed to possibly speak to me.”

“Yes, but I am supposed to meet someone that works at Glenview.  I just met her today, but she wanted to meet with me.  I can possibly meet with you tomorrow!”  Amelia suggested.

“Tomorrow it is.  I will call you tomorrow morning and we will go from there!” Mr. Henderson agreed.

By the time that Mr. Henderson had gotten into the car with Amelia, the sky opened up.  It was a typical summer storm in Georgia which consisted of strong gusty winds,  roaring thunder that shook the whole ground, vivid flashes of lightning and  torrential rains that pounded the ground so hard that water ran orange from the muddy Georgia clay.  The run off of water quickly flooded the parking lot of Glenview and continued to run out into the streets.  Amelia was going to wait it out, but when she looked up Mr. Hodges was still watching her and Mr. Henderson from his office window.  It wasn’t long until Amelia saw Sheriff Eugene drive by the main entrance of the parking lot.  She wondered if Eugene’s driving by was meant to intimidate her.  When the rain slacked down a little bit, Amelia backed out of the parking space.

“Where’s your car parked Mr. Henderson?”  Amelia asked.

“Well, Ms. Amelia, frankly I never drove, I walked!  Guess I should have paid attention to the weather huh?”  Mr. Henderson said with a little giggle.

“No problem,” Amelia said.  Where do you want to go? Do you want me to drop you at the Times building or home?”  Amelia asked as she drove quickly out of the parking lot. Either place that Mr. Henderson chose was on her way home.   Just as she was pulling out, Eugene drove by rather slowly.  It wasn’t good because he could probably see who was in the car with her much better than Mr. Hodges could through his office window and the rain

“Well Mr. Henderson since we are together anyway and I’ve got to take my time, why did you come to see me?” Amelia asked as she drove very slowly on the rain slick roads.  She noticed that Mr. Henderson kept looking down at his side mirror.  She felt he too was concerned about Sheriff Eugene seeing them.

“Ms. Amelia, I have heard stories for years coming out of Glenview. I understand that you and your parents had a run in with Mr. Hodges?  Well, young lady, I do not wish to worry you, believe me.  Let me just say that he is not at all a nice man. If you’ve crossed him then I am sure that you’ve already found that out.  He’s always kept all of his dealings covered up pretty good but lately he has been pretty sloppy.  For one thing he has that idiot Sheriff Eugene in cahoots with him who has let this Sheriff’s job go straight to his head.  Both of these men are power hungry! Mr. Hodges is just like Glenview’s building. From the outside everything appears to be all pristine and beautiful but on the inside it is full of rot and disgust.  I intend on exposing him for what and who he really is! Ms. Amelia, I need to hear about everything that you know!”  Mr. Henderson stated.

Amelia still looking ahead said, “Frankly, Mr. Henderson, how do I know that I can trust you?  I don’t know who all is in with him on this thing?  I, of course, am concerned about all of the residents in Glenview, but my parents are who I am most concerned about.  I tried my best to get them to come home with me today and never return.  When I looked upon Mr. Hodges face, I saw pure evil. I fear for my parent’s safety!”  Amelia stated with tears in her eyes.

“Ms. Amelia, I understand your concerns, and yes you should be very concerned.  I have known your parents longer than you have.  Henry is a dear friend of mine. I want to put Mr. Hodges behind bars where he belongs.  I, however, need evidence and proof that he is doing what we both know he is!” Mr. Henderson convinced.

Part 24 If Oak Trees Could Talk

Welcome back! I hope that you’ve had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday! Mine was special as my two oldest sisters from Ohio and Kentucky came to visit with some of their families! As we gathered around our Thanksgiving feast of abundance, I was grateful and blessed to have this time with them.

If you’ve been following along with my Video blogs, then you already know how important family is to me by listening to If Oak Trees Could Talk! Today we are continuing in Chapter 13 The Picnic!

Chapter 13

The Picnic!

She spread out the blanket on the ground and placed the hamburgers and onion rings inside the picnic basket along with a couple of wine glasses. She also placed the bottle of wine in an ice bucket. She propped the radio beside the basket along with the bathrobe that she found for her Daddy. As she had gotten her Mom’s attention, she pointed to the house and whispered to her that that was where she was going to be if her mother needed anything.   Just as she was ready to walk away, a Sheriff’s car came barreling into the driveway with flashing lights and a siren screaming.

Robert walked quickly toward the driveway to meet the Sheriff’s car and Amelia and the boys followed as well to prevent them from interrupting her parents. When they had arrived at the driveway, Eugene Perkins stepped out of the police car.

“Robert, Ms. Amelia, I am sure you know why I’m here, right?” Eugene asked.

“Hello Eugene, how are you? How are your parents?” Amelia asked hoping to change the subject. Helen taught Amelia to be polite and sociable. There wasn’t any reason to be rude; after all, Amelia had gone almost thirteen years of school with Eugene if you count kindergarten. She knew every member of his family and his parents were close friends to hers.

“My folks are fine, Ms. Amelia. Speaking of folks, Ms. Amelia, How are yours doing?” Eugene probed as he looked toward the old Oak tree.

“Well, Eugene, I am sure that they’ve been better, but they’re not doing badly!” Amelia stated.

“Now Ms. Amelia, we’re going to have to quit beating around the bush here, now you know why I am here, right?” Eugene once again asked as he looked Amelia right in the eyes.

“Well, I honestly don’t know why you’re here Eugene.” Amelia answered. “I don’t understand exactly. Are we in some kind of trouble?”

“Well, I guess you can say that Ms. Amelia, I’ve got to take your parents back to Glenview. I had gotten a call from Mr. Hodges, accusing you of taking your parents out of the home illegally. Is this true?” Eugene once again probed as he kept looking down toward the Oak tree. By this time a sound of music was coming from the tree and Eugene became more and more curious as to what was going on down there.

“I didn’t know that I had done anything illegal, Eugene. It wasn’t like they are imprisoned at Glenview. I am the one, with their permission of course, that had signed them into Glenview. I didn’t think it would be illegal to take them out.”

“Well, Ms. Amelia, Mr. Hodges disagrees. He says that your parents are liable for a lot of expenses and that you were not advised by the staff as to whether or not they were able to leave Glenview. I think it would be best if I just took your parents back, and then maybe you do things differently if you choose to take them out again. Mr. Hodges is pressing charges of kidnapping against you.”

“Now, Eugene, you know that is not the truth. You have parents that are getting older, if your father decided to leave a facility on his own accord, mine you, like Glenview, wouldn’t you want to help your mother find him? By the way, do you still live at home with your parents? Amelia stalled.

“Yes, Ms. Amelia I still live with my parents. Do you know how often I am asked that question?” Eugene asked as he obviously was embarrassed.

“I’m asking you as a friend, Eugene, please just give us some more time. Momma thinks that she might be able to reach Daddy so that he will come back to us.   Eugene I’m telling you and Mr. Hodges right now, if they refuse to go back into Glenview, then there is nothing that I can do about it but stand by what they want!”

“Okay, Ms. Amelia, I’m going to turn my back on what I’ve seen here today. I will give your mother until morning to see what happens with Mr. Henry. I believe that I can hold Mr. Hodges off until then, but after that, I cannot promise you that I can help you.” Eugene said while cocking his head at a certain angle to look in Amelia’s eyes because the sun was starting to set and was shining right in Eugene’s face.

“Fair enough Eugene! Thank you. We will see what we can do! Tell your parents hello for us.” Amelia said with a sigh of relief.

Eugene got in his police car, and Amelia could hear him talking on his radio. “That’s a negative on Mr. Henry Tyler’s twenty. We’ll just have to check back later!”

He then started his car and sped off.

The sun had gone down rather quickly and it seemed as though the moon was in a hurry to shine forth.   When Amelia looked toward the Oak tree she could see the silhouette of two people. She watched in awe as her parents swayed softly in an embrace to faint sounds of music. Amelia sighed once again because she knew that only her Momma could have gotten her Daddy down from the tree without breaking any bones.   The radio continued to play softly and she could hear soft laughter coming from her parent’s direction. From a distance everything appeared as it should be. Both of her parents seemed as though nothing had robbed them of their past year’s happiness, but Amelia wondered how it would be if she drew closer?

Amelia loved what she was witnessing. However, she knew that it was going to come to an abrupt end. Although Eugene Perkins gave them a break this time, Amelia knew his reputation of being ruthless at times. He was a Sheriff who thought more of himself than anyone else did and quite frankly he let the job go to his head. He liked to throw his weight around and lord over people when he had an opportunity. Amelia considered the situation with her parents to be an awesome opportunity for him.

Part 22 If Oak Trees Could Talk!

Hello Everyone, I’ve been out and about quite a bit the past month, but I want to sincerely thank you for your patience and for hanging in here with me as I continue reading and Video blogging my Romance/Suspense Novel If Oak Trees Could Talk!

Chapter 12

No Place Like Home!

Suddenly, the boys came running around from the side porch and frightened her!

“What are you doing, Momma? Are you going in or not?” Dylan asked, as he walked over and lifted up a potted plant to find the house key placed underneath.

“Yes, sweetie, I was just having some wonderful memories!” Amelia whispered.

“We have always loved it here too, Mom, we miss being here. Can we just come over some time to hang out like we used to?” Rob asked.

“Well, I don’t know why we couldn’t! After all this house is like a member of the family, it needs to have life in it!” Amelia stated with a smile. “Now, let’s get in here and get what Gramma needs for her picnic!”

“Gramma’s having a picnic? Will it be in the gardens like we used to do?” Dylan asked with excitement.

“No, I’m afraid not, boys, this is a special picnic just for adults, okay?” Amelia replied.

“Yuck, it’s one of those kinds of picnics. Don’t worry we don’t ever want to go to that kind of stuff anyway!” Rob said with a wrinkled up look on his face.

As the three talked they moved forward through the door of Amelia’s childhood home. Everything was neatly in its place, just as it was when Henry and Helen left, but the house never felt the same. It never smelled the same either. Before Helen’s accident, the home always seemed so warm and inviting and smelled of wonderful scents of fresh baked goods. Helen loved to cook and bake for not only her own family but she was always fixing meals or baking breads, cakes, pies or other delectable sweets to take to neighbors, shut-ins, or even the residents at Glenview Residential Home for the Elderly. It was ironic that she herself became one of those residents!

When her parents were well, Amelia brought the boys over every day to see their grandparents. Henry would take the boys outside into the garage or down by the creek or down by the Oak tree. He was always telling them funny stories and helping them to become who they were going to grow up to be. Helen, of course, always spoiled the boys rotten. She always had fresh baked muffins or cookies with hot cocoa loaded either in marshmallows or with whipped cream with cherries on top. Helen would have the cups ready, the hot cocoa made and waiting for the boys when they come through her door! No greater parents or life could Amelia have asked for.

“Man, there it is!” Dylan let out a shout!

“There what is?” Rob asked his brother.

“That pocketknife that Gramps gave me, I’ve looked all over the place for it! I remember now that Gramps said that he would sharpen it up for me. He always said that a dull knife was actually more dangerous than a sharp knife. He was going to sharpen it so that he could teach us how to carve. Gramps always taught us things like that. I sure do miss his yard trips!”

“What are yard trips?” Amelia asked

“They were trips that Gramps would take us on and we would explore. We never came into the yard that we never learned something new! One time he showed us this big old worm moving through the grass. He said that you could tell if there was going to be a good or bad winter by the color of those worms.” Dylan said as he opened and shut his pocketknife. He checked to see how sharp it was by seeing if it would shave the hairs on his arm.

“Woolly Worms, That’s what he called them! He said they were Woolly worms!” Rob joined in.

“I remember that the Woolly Worm he showed us was browner then it was black and he said that the winter wasn’t going to be bad! He told us if the worm would have been blacker than brown that we could expect a bad winter. He started giggling when he told us about the bad winter. He winked at us and said that if we were to have a bad winter, then that would just have meant that we would have to blow up some tire inner tubes to sleigh ride down to the old Oak tree in the side yard. He also said that it meant that we would just get special treats! He licked his lips and told us to bring on the hot spiced apple cider or hot chocolate with extra marshmallows! Dylan continued, as everyone giggled while picturing Henry’s impish grin.

“Okay, we’ve got to hurry and get what we came in here for!   I am sure Gramma is probably wondering about us! Dylan please search in the pantry closet and see if you can find a picnic basket. Rob would you go upstairs please to the linen closet in the hallway, and get a blanket?   It doesn’t matter what kind, just a blanket. I will go get Gramma her radio and new batteries.

They each headed off in different directions to get the supplies that Helen had requested that they bring to her. As they met in the living room, each one of them had the same thought.

“Shouldn’t we get some kind of clothes for Gramps to put on?” Rob asked with a giggle.

“Yes, I suppose that we should,” Amelia agreed with a slight grin on her face as well.   “I will go and get him something, whether or not your Gramma can get him to put them on will be questionable! Wait just a second boys, I’ve got to go to the wine cellar as well! If Gramma is having a romantic picnic, than they’ve got to have wine.   I’ll be right back. We should all go together to give these things to her!”

The boys waited patiently in the living room where they had spent so much of their time. Pictures of their parents and themselves lined a wall that Gramma and Gramps called the “Wall of Fame!” The boys stood staring at the pictures as they told a wonderful story about a happy family that seemed to have everything.

“Man looking at this wall is sad!” Rob blurted out.

“I love looking at all of the old photos, especially of Gramps and Gramma! Even at Mom’s pictures when she was young. Look at that goofy grin. Who poses like that?” Dylan said with a chuckle.

“You do, look at that picture of you! You look just like Mom in that picture, look at you’re goofy grin. Oh wait! Look at Gramps in that picture! I take it back you look just like him with his goofy grin!” Rob said as he became more and more excited while looking at the pictures and stating something that had not really appeared so real to them before.

“Goodness if we look like Gramps when we are young……Don’t even say it!” Dylan ordered. “Don’t even say it!”

Suddenly their humorous revelation of their family portraits was interrupted when their Mom walked back into the room.

“What’s so funny, boys?” She probed as a smile come on her face seeing that the boys seemed happy about something.

“Believe us, it is nothing that we ever wanted to talk about Mom!” Rob answered as he threw a punch into Dylan’s arm.

“No, Mam, me neither.” Dylan agreed as he socked his brother back!

“Well, okay, let’s move it out! Gramma probably thinks we’ve gotten lost like Gramps today! Let’s get this stuff to her!” Mom ordered. “Just leave the door, we will come back up and get it later!” She continued as she walked toward the front door.

Dancing and Prancing Leaves!

Dancing and Prancing Leaves!

Autumn Walk

Hello Friends, I know that this week I am changing it up a bit from my usual Video Blog If Oak Trees Could Talk.   The reason is simply because I  live in a virtual golden and russet forest this time of year and I love it! I’ve included a video of this rainy autumn morning in Georgia and I hope a little inspiration for you today!

It is a rainy Monday morning in Georgia as I am writing this! I simply love my times out on my front porch, in my wooded jungle of sorts, sipping my morning coffee and simply listening and watching as I spend time in His presence!

Autumn leaves are swirling around in the current of the wind until they slowly make their way to the ground! However, I’ve noticed one leaf this morning that seems to be rebellious, out into a current of its own, golden in color, swirling and dancing in the wind! It seemed that it too would hit the ground as it came swirling downward. Then suddenly it would catch another current and soar up into the air again! I couldn’t take my eyes off of that leaf until finally after what seemed like the longest while of it dancing and prancing through the air, it finally swirled down and around and around until it lay down so ever gently on the only bear place on the ground!

I thought how weird that leaf was but then I felt as though the Lord was speaking to me in what I had just witnessed. He has made us as unique as this beautiful swirling leaf. He has called us to come out from among the crowd and do something uniquely designed for us to do, that we alone have been created to do! What I thought was rebellion, was simply obedience, one seemingly out on its own dancing and catching the wind of His breath and Spirit as He directed the current! It was a precious moment for me this morning as I seem to struggle sometimes with the fact that I’m out here feeling very alone sometimes with my hopes and dreams. It’s not like I do not have supporters and those that cheer me or encourage me, but what the Lord puts in your heart of hearts sometimes seems allusive at times and the self-doubt as to whether you’re chasing a pipe dream kicks in!

Ah…… I breathe in a peaceful sigh as the Lord always sends the little assurances like only He can to encourage me! This morning was a great pick me up as I am soaring high under the power of His breath!

Thank you for spending this time with me! Be encouraged that you’re always under the watchful eye of the One who created you! Blessings to you my dear friends! As always I would love to hear from you! If you have recently began reading along or have found my video blogs and would want to hear more please Subscribe to my Youtube Video Blogs!

Part 20 If Oak Trees Could Talk

Hello from Georgia! Just as I welcome the Sunshine on this beautiful sunny fall day, let me extend a hearty welcome to ya’ll as well!   Don’t you just love the change of the seasons? There is something about the changing of the seasons that excites me to know that changes are occurring in our lives as well! Frankly that is why I began doing the Video Blogs of my latest Romance/Suspense novel If Oak Trees Could Talk because I wanted to get out of my comfort zone and experience something new! I am so grateful I’ve ventured out to do these Videos as I have loved the interaction and response I’ve gotten!

Please pull you up a comfy chair, pour you a sip of tea or coffee and join me today as we continue reading in Chapter 10 The Escapees and on into Chapter 11 The Return!

Chapter 10

The Escapees!

Nurse Wanda watched Mr. Hodges’ eyes narrow and his angered expressions come upon his face as he told her the story of Mr. Tyler. Because she knew Mr. Tyler so well, the story of why he escaped became clear. Mrs. Tyler knew if anyone told Mr. Tyler that she was getting out of Glenview before he was allowed to go home that he would not stand for it.

“Mrs. Tyler told us that this would happen!” Nurse Wanda stated

“What would happen, that two old mental cases would run off into the night and put all of our jobs at risk!” Mr. Hodges barked.

“Well Sir, I know you won’t understand this and probably won’t even try to understand it, but Mr. and Mrs. Tyler are unlike any couple that I’ve ever met. I seriously think that if you cut one of them that the other would bleed. They are that close and that much in love. This is where you went wrong Sir, because Mrs. Tyler asked all the nurses not to say anything to Mr. Tyler about her early release, because she knew that he would not be left behind at Glenview without his Helen. That’s the reason he came to Glenview to begin with because Mrs. Tyler left him when she had her stroke!”

“Well that is ridiculous and crazy! Is it any wonder that Mr. Tyler is mental? Yes this just leads me to think that Mr. Tyler is crazier than I thought. So medications will be justified! Thank you Nurse Wanda, you have enlightened me more than you can imagine!” Mr. Hodges said with those same narrow eyes and that evil smirk!

“Oh Lord, what have I done?” Nurse Wanda whispered as she realized that she just made things worse instead of better. She went quickly behind the nurse’s station and began looking for Ms. Amelia’s phone number. She knew that she probably would not be at her home but she felt so desperate to let Amelia know that Mr. Hodges was not going to help her parents. Instead he was going to keep Mr. Tyler medicated to where what memory he had gained would be lost forever! As she dialed the number, the telephone rang and rang, but no answer….

Chapter 11

The Return

“Hello my Little Darlings how are you?” Helen said rather calmly when she got into the car. She was always thrilled to see her grandchildren.

“We’re fine Gramma. Did Gramps escape from the Home?” Dylan asked, as he was the one most like Henry. He found humor in so much of life as Henry had.

“Yes Dear, I’m afraid he has, but no worries, I am sure he has made it home by now!” Gramma answered.

“Way to go Gramps!” Dylan cheered and so did his brother Robbie.

“Well at least he knows his way home, right?” Robbie asked rather concerned.

“Of course he does, children, don’t fret, I am sure he is just fine!” Gramma reassured. She seriously was at total peace as she somehow knew that this was the way things were going to work themselves out. Amelia on the other hand was typical Amelia, who was trying to keep herself from having a panic attack.

“Can’t you go any faster, Honey?” Amelia pleaded.

“It’s okay Amelia, your Father’s okay. I know him. He is just going back to find what he has lost.” Helen stated rather calmly.

“Mom, you sound so sure that he’s okay, what if….”

“Now, now Amelia, we do not want to alarm the boys now do we?” Helen interrupted as Amelia’s voice was becoming more excited.

“Okay, we should be home any second. I just pray that you’re right!” Amelia stated still not convinced of her Daddy’s safety.

As Robert turned onto Eastman Street, the boys shouted, “Do you see him? Do you see him?” They hollered again.

Robert pulled the car up into Henry’s and Helen’s driveway. The boys bolted out of the car first, they proceeded to run toward the house, but Amelia helped her mother out of the car who proceeded toward the Oak tree! When they drew close, the swing that hung from the Oak tree for years was gently swinging. It could not have been the wind because in the South, in the middle of July, a stiff wind is hard to come by. A gentle breeze was blowing, however, Amelia and Helen was sure that it would take more than a gentle breeze to move the swing this hard.

“Henry, Are you here?” Helen called. “Henry, do you hear me?” Helen called again.

Just as she was going to get upset, suddenly she and Amelia heard a loud thrashing sound up above them.

“Oh my Lord,” Amelia shouted!

“Hush Daughter, he has climbed that fool tree a million times! Just don’t panic. Just act as though you’re not the least bit afraid!” Helen stated rather calmly.

Henry chuckled like he was nine years old again as he was seated on a huge limb that he sat on when he was younger. Maybe he had not climbed up that tree and sat on that limb a million times, but it was truly so many times that he knew every little crevice and every protrusion to grab onto so as to get up there fast and be seated safely. He was a site to behold as he dangled his long naked legs over the side of that limb. He had his back toward Helen and Amelia and all they saw was Henry’s backside shining brighter than most moonlights! Obviously he was in quite a hurry to leave Glenview because he didn’t take time to find clothes or maybe he didn’t remember that he even had clothes.   Did he care that he was streaking like a teenager at a football game, heck no! Henry honestly could have cared less even when he was completely sane, but now all shame was completely gone.   Helen wasn’t at all surprised with what she saw. It reminded her of the old Henry.

Part 17 If Oak Trees Could Talk

Part 17 If Oak Trees Could Talk

Welcome back to If Oak Trees Could Talk ! I hope that up to this point that you’ve been following along either by reading or listening each week. I say this because the past two weeks I have been sharing Chapter 9 entitled Pursuit of Love. This particular chapter depicts some pretty private details of an intimate relationship between a husband and a wife, but the whole point of this chapter is strictly written in context of the rest of the book. I am in no way ashamed of this chapter, however, I plead with those of you that may have just began reading along or listening to realize that If Oak Trees Could Talk is not just another steamy romance novel about sex in any way! If Oak Trees Could Talk is truly the story of a couple that has a full and satisfying life because of their choice to pursue and abandon themselves fully to unconditional love!

“Baby, Baby,” Robert once again whispered, “as much as I am enjoying this, I would like to know what this is all about exactly?” He held Amelia’s face in his gentle hands and gingerly caressed her hair. His eyes met hers as her eyes were filled with tears. He once again questioned if he had upset her.

As Amelia, swallowed hard the lump in her throat, she cleared her throat and told Robert about what her mother had advised. She asked, “Robert have you really noticed how my parent’s truly love one another with everything that they have within them?”

Robert answered, “Yes, I can honestly say that I’ve never seen anyone that cared about each other like your parent’s do. Not even my own parents!”

“Do you know how my mother told me that they kept that kind of passion for each other throughout all of the years?” Amelia asked not really expecting an answer.

Robert still gazing into Amelia’s beautiful blue eyes, simply listened.

“She told me that the main thing they both have done was to always put each other first. Momma said, “it is truly that simple, but not always that easy!” Amelia continued. “I went into the Glenview Residential Home for the Elderly, mind you, and do you know what I found? I found this breathtakingly beautiful woman which is my little sweet mother simply glowing! Do you know what she told me when I asked her about why she looked like she was glowing?”

Robert nodded as he had no clue.

“At first she told me that I could not handle the real truth about why she was glowing. As I convinced her that I was an adult, she proceeded to tell me that she and my little Daddy had made love, not just love mind you, but, she said “passionate love” the entire night long! I had to admit that I was totally embarrassed and became so flushed that I never knew what to say to her! But she had plenty to say to me. She told me to go home and to love you passionately. I do love you with my whole heart, but have I ever loved you with that kind of passion before? I am determined that I want to Robert. I want us to be free to love like that without embarrassment. We once had a passion, but somehow through the years we have let something slip away. I want what we once had. I want to model that kind of love for our boys, so that when they find wives, they will know how to love them? Do you think I am crazy?”

Robert lay quietly as Amelia poured out her heart, her thoughts, and questions so openly to him. He watched her eyes dance as she spoke of her parents and noticed that she smiled so tenderly when she told him how much she loved him and wanted him to love her passionately as well.

Robert cleared his throat as well and took Amelia’s face again in his gentle hands.

“I want us to trust each other enough to love like that! I know that I have taken you for granted, but Amelia, my breath catches in my chest every time I see your beautiful face. I feel like a giddy teenager whose mouth feels like it is full of cotton when it comes to talking to you and really expressing my heart. I never want to hold anything back, but sometimes I am unsure of myself. I do not always know how to put in action the way I feel inside. Your Daddy is a hard man to live up to! I love you with everything that is in me. I would be as lost as your Daddy is right now if you ever left me. I need you to show me how to love you, because honestly Babe, I do not want to assume I know. I know that my heart is full and I could never imagine living without you. You are my passion, my desire. I am a better man because of you. You are what my dreams have always been! I am one blessed man! The day that I knocked you down at the airport was the day that I was absolutely knocked over myself. I just couldn’t believe how beautiful you were! I was and am still blown away when I look into your eyes.”

It was as if the flood gates had opened up and all of the emotions that both Amelia and Robert had already shared along with those that they still had in their hearts come gushing out! They hungrily lavished each other with gentle caresses and tender kisses as they moved together in unison to become one flesh. Robert and Amelia lay in awe struck silence while still tightly holding each other, both were breathless, never experiencing love on this level before, until finally Amelia broke the silence

“Yahoo! Thank you Momma! I loved your wonderful motherly advice!”

Robert chuckled and teasingly said, “Amelia, the next time you go to see your mom, please ask her if she has any more advice for her Daughter and favorite Son-and-law? Tell her we will try to follow it to the tee!”

As the couple continued embracing one another, they talked and laughed until several hours had passed. They needed to go and pick up the boys. Both knew in their hearts, however, that from this day forward, although it may not be easy, that they would make every effort to put the other one first and live their lives passionately pursuing love.

Chapter 9

Pursuit of Love

“Well, if you are sure you want to know I will tell you, your Daddy and I made love all night long last night. We felt like the life that had been stolen from us was restored by our passion for each other last night. Nurse Wanda, actually had to wake us up this morning, we were sleeping so soundly!” Helen said with absolutely no shame or guilt. She let out a chuckle, that soon turned into laughter as she seen the look on Amelia’s face.

“Momma!” Amelia gasped as she was totally surprised at her Momma’s candidness.

“Well, my Dear Daughter, you said that you could handle it! That blush on your cheeks really says you lied! I am going to give you some free advice Amelia. Go home, love your husband passionately! Love him like you’ve never loved him before, love him like it could be your last time.   Surprise him with your willingness to be passionate for him. You will find the greatest response will be what you have found in your Daddy’s and my relationship. It’s called a passion for life! Go, get out of here! Go make wild passionate love to your husband!”

“Well, Mother….I’ve never….

“And that is the reason you doubt your love for your own husband, go and do it! Just go and have what you see you want out of life. If we’ve taught you nothing else in life, Daughter, it is to grab every moment as if it were your last! Live in passionate pursuit of love and embrace it, for love is the greatest treasure that you will ever find upon this earth. If you love with a passion, Daughter, no greater joy will you find with Robert, now what are you waiting for? Get on out of here like I told you to do! Go find love!”

“But Momma, I can’t just leave! I just got here!” Amelia stammered.

“I told you to go…., now get! Your Daddy and I are better than we’ve been in a long time, so get on out of here! Go do what I told you to do now! Are you going to disobey me?” Helen asked rather sternly.

Amelia shook her head no. She embraced her mother and smiled a smile that was a combination of both Henry’s and Helen’s. She felt nervous inside, but couldn’t wait to act on what her Mother had advised her. She longed for the life full of passion that she knew existed for her. Today her Momma gave her permission to go after it whole heartedly without shame. She ran down the hall to the elevator and quickly out the Glenview Home’s doors to her car. She sped through the lights and stop signs to get to her home as she prepared emotionally to be the most passionate version of herself. Her boys had baseball practices and then pizza, so Amelia knew that she and her husband would not be interrupted for several hours. Thoughts ran wildly through her mind as she considered how Robert might react to her behavior.

“Oh I feel so foolish and silly, why does this seem so difficult for me?” Amelia mumbled to herself. “My Lord, I’ve been married to the man for Eleven years, it’s not like we’ve never made love before?” She continued to give herself a pep talk.

Amelia’s face burned and became flush. She already felt embarrassed even before acting upon what her mother advised her to do. However, she knew that she longed to come out of her shell and be who she knew she was inside. She never wanted to live like other couples that she knew, just the status quo and settle for a life void of excitement and passion. No, Amelia determined in herself that from this point on, there would be no turning back.   She was going to have the kind of marriage and relationship with her husband as close to the love that her parent’s had modeled for her throughout her entire life.

When Amelia’s husband pulled in the driveway, Amelia heard the garage door open and shut as Robert pulled his car in. She heard his footsteps coming up the stairs and a tune of a song that he was singing ever so softly. He was a very handsome man and so sweet. Amelia was envied because Robert was the kind of man that would definitely make a woman swoon. What caught Amelia’s attention however was the little cleft dimple on his chin and an even bigger dimple that seemed to seal every smile. It reminded her of her Daddy’s mischievousness little grins and so she was attracted to him right away.

When the door to the stairs finally opened and Robert stepped in, his dimpled smile caught Amelia’s eye and she gently embraced him. She lingered in his embrace and asked him if she could have a serious conversation with him. She took his hand and led him to their bedroom and shut and locked the door.

“Did I do something wrong?” Robert asked.

“No, I have just left my parent’s and Robert I am taking my mother’s advice!” Amelia whispered as she began unbuttoning Robert’s shirt.

“Well, okay….” Robert whispered back, as he was surprised at Amelia’s behavior.

Amelia, found Robert’s lips and kissed him hard and passionately. He responded back to her, but with slower actions as he wasn’t for sure what Amelia’s mother had advised her. The kisses became more passionate as Amelia walked Robert backward to their bed and gently pushed him until he was lying down. She followed him as her body pressed tenderly onto his. Amelia thought to herself, we have a great love and passion for each other, we just do not express it freely. She became even more determined that she was not going to hold anything back from Robert, but was going to trust love and abandoned herself to it.

Part 12 If Oak Trees Could Talk

Part 12 If Oak Trees Could Talk!

Wow! Welcome back to Part 12 If Oak Trees Could Talk!” We are moving right along and I am so honored that you’ve chose to spend this time with me each week.

Even though If Oak Trees Could Talk is a fictional story I feel as if by actually telling it to you that I am opening a very private door to a personal place in my heart each week! This is a place of wonderful childhood memories of living on a farm in Kentucky with two exceptional parents and five sisters! My main characters in If Oak Trees Could Talk, are Henry and Helen Tyler that remind me so much of my loving parents!

As we read today and finish Chapter 5 A Gift of Hope, it is indeed my hope that you will continue to let me share my heart with you through this book each week!

Chapter 5

A Gift of Hope

When Helen and Amelia knocked on Henry’s door they could hear Henry talking with someone. However, once entering the room, neither of them saw anybody.

“Who was you talking too Henry?” Helen questioned.

“Oh I was just chatting with an old friend.” Henry replied, once again with that mischievous grin upon his face.

“Amelia has something special for you Henry!”

“Oh yeah?” Henry perked up like a little boy. “What is it?”

Amelia handed her Daddy the journals first. He stared blankly at them as if to ask, what are these books for, but then he chuckled out loud.

“Do you like them Daddy?”

Henry never answered Amelia. She proceeded to give him the picture that she had framed.

“There you are!”   Henry replied and chuckled out loud again.

“You’ve not changed a bit.” He continued as if he really was talking with an old friend. Then tears filled his eyes as he took notice of the ladies in the room.

“Come here my daughter.” Henry said as he motioned for Amelia to come.

She did as she was told and Henry hugged her tightly and kissed her forehead.

“No better gift could I have ever received my sweet. I love them and I will use them to get out of here. I promise you my dear.”

“Why are you standing way over there?” He said as he turned to Helen. “Get over here and lay one on me!”

Helen too obeyed and did as Henry commanded. He held her tightly, kissed her square on the lips and whispered softly. “Soon, my Dear, soon I promise, we’re breaking out of this joint!”

Helen smiled tenderly. She knew that Henry never promised her anything that he did not fulfill.   She knew how soon she was to leave Glenview, but when she looked into Henry’s face, she became convinced that he knew more about it than even she did. So she too chuckled with him and hugged him tightly.

Before Amelia left to go home, she was able to get Henry’s picture hung on the wall directly in front of his bed. She had much hope that as Henry seen his “old friend” that the empty journals would be filled, but most importantly her Daddy’s memory would be completely restored and he, along with her mother would be home.

Thank you once again for spending this time with me. I hope that you are able to read or “tune in each week, however if you’ve missed any of the story, please check out my blog archives or my Youtube Video Blogs of If Oak Trees Could Talk!

Inspiring One Dreamer at a Time!

Part 10 If Oak Trees Could Talk!

“Inspiring one Dreamer at a time!”

Welcome back to my Video Blog If Oak Trees Could Talk.  I am so pleased that you chose to join me this week!

As always, I want you to feel at home, so I hope you have gotten you a tall cold glass of sweet tea or your favorite drink and have gotten yourself all comfy as we continue reading today in Chapter 5 Gleaning Wisdom!

Chapter 5

Gleaning Wisdom

As Amelia and her parents sat outside on the warm terrace, Amelia became silent herself. She again thought of how her parents loved one another. She also thought of how much she loved her own husband, but wondered if what she had with Robert could possibly compare to the kind of love and passion that her parents shared over the years. One thing she did know for sure was that her life wasn’t full of adventure the way that her parent’s lives were. As Amelia continued to think upon her life and compare it to her parent’s she suddenly realized that she must glean from them. As the sun continued to shine on their whitening heads, Amelia felt urgency in her heart that she had to learn how they kept the passion and adventure in their marriage? She needed to know now! Just as she turned to ask her Mom a question, a nurse interrupted her.

“Ms. Amelia, it’s time for your Mother’s therapy now.”

Amelia disappointed, turned to her mother and kissed her.

“I’ll talk with you later okay Momma?”

“Yes dear, we’ll talk later. You had better take your father inside, the sun is becoming very warm and your Daddy’s fair skin will burn.” Helen suggested as she always had her husband’s wellbeing on her mind.

Amelia took her mother’s suggestion and before she barely had gotten Henry back inside, he made a suggestion of his own.

“Let’s go see your mother!” Henry said with a devilish grin.

“We will, Daddy, she should be out of physical therapy pretty soon!”

Amelia pushed her Daddy down the hallway and made several loops down and back as she stalled for time until she thought her mother would be back into her room.

“You know she spent the night with me, don’t you?” Henry said with a smile that told more than Amelia wanted to know.

“Daddy, you and Momma are going to get in trouble!”

“Ah, What can they do to us, kick us out? We only wish to be in such trouble as to receive that kind of punishment.” Henry stated with a defiant little chuckle.

“Daddy, I know you and Momma want to be home. It will happen, Daddy. It really will. I promise you Dad, I’m working on trying to get both of you back home.”

“I know dear, this has been as rough on you as it has been on us!”

“I’m fine Daddy, I’m just happy for our conversation today! I truly believe that you and Momma will be home again soon!”

With those words said, Amelia knocked on her mother’s door. She pushed her Dad inside and the room seemingly lit up as Helen smiled widely and so did Henry.

“You two act like teenagers!” Amelia said with a giggle.

“Nope, not really, your mother didn’t care that much for me when we were teenagers!”

“Now Henry, that’s not true! I just wanted to make for sure of my feelings before I agreed to go steady. My goodness, you kept me scared to death as all you talked about since we were kids was marriage!”

“I had to wear her down, Amelia!” Henry said with a giggle.

“Well, I’m glad she gave in!” Amelia replied as she shook her head and giggled as well.

“Tell me, how do I keep passion in my marriage the way that you two have?” Amelia asked.

“Why honey, that’s easy, we’ve always just put each other first. In doing that, we’ve never wanted for anything outside of what we have together!”

“Surely Mom, it’s not that simple!”

“Yes dear, it’s that simple.  It’s not always easy, but it’s that simple.”

“See your Daddy, wouldn’t even let me be sick first that he didn’t follow me right into this place!”  Helen stated with a chuckle of her own.

A knock on the door interrupted the laughter and the best conversation that the Tyler family had had in a long while.

“Hello Tyler family, I’m sorry to interrupt the party, but Mrs. Tyler has more therapy and Mr. Tyler is due for his meds!”  Nurse Wanda stated as she looked at Amelia.

“Okay, Momma, I love you, I will see you later.  I’m going to keep things simple,” Amelia said as she blew a kiss to her mother.

“Come on Daddy! Let me get you back to your room for your medicines.  I hope that you will have a whole book of memories written down for me the next time I see you.”
